Digital Photography Like a Pro! http://tinyurl.com/asm7la9My other books. http://tinyurl.com/aq67c77Thank you! Review: Very Helpful Book!! - Al Judge, author or photography master? I say both, I have read a couple of his other books and they are all the best of the best. This book, Mastering Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO and Exposure has taught me more than the college-level photography course I took over a year ago. This book should be the textbook for those courses. I was still unclear about many aspects of photography until I found this book. Of course, I took better pictures but I wanted to know what made them better. We can always better ourselves but if we don't know why or how, then we have limits. Al Judge takes away those limits and explains to the reader, very clearly, what kind of effect a certain technique or just a slight change would make to the final product. My pictures always seemed a bit "noisy", but by making better sense of ISO speed, Al has taught me how to correct that problem in such a way that I could actually explain it to someone else. I think that is the best way to judge a book, not just by how you interpret the information, but how you can relay that information to someone else. You can go through and read all of the reviews you want, or you can just buy the book and start taking better pictures right away. Review: Excellent book, but a bit short - A lot of valuable info in here for a newbie like me, but not enough examples. The shortness of the book makes me feel as though it is a collection of magazine articles, rather than a complete book. I would love to see more and will probably follow the author for that purpose. Easy to read, well written.

Helpful and succinct
I have always enjoyed taking pictures, but have never known what the settings meant. I have purchased other books, but never made it all the way through them. After recently purchasing a new camera, I decided to get serious and I thought a good place to start would be this book. The book is geared towards beginners, I think, which is great. It has good photographic examples and charts to explain concepts. He explains the basics and a little beyond, but not so much as to overwhelm. I also like that it is a manageable read. Just when I felt anxious to be done and go take pictures, it was done! I would definitely use this as a stepping stone to more in depth classes.

Short and SWEET! Bought this for my daughter who is just getting into photography but I also found it very helpful. Zeroing in on the basics of exposure this book is a great, easy to read primer for just about anyone. The real-life examples were great! Would like to see more of those - maybe an entire book with these examples - illustrating various techniques. I'd much rather read a short book describing one person's approach than a large tome explaining all the options. The cameras today are techno-rich and a hard-to-get-through manual is something that sucks the fun right out of a inherently fun activity. Thanks for a concise, helpful (and affordable) book!

Very useful!
I've bought myself a very good camera because a normal camera just doesn't do it when it comes to bird photography (esp. when you want to take photos of them while they fly). I am quite good at taking bird photos but there were many things about photography that always puzzled and intimidated me. I simply didn't want to get into the details because I was worried I'd never understand them. A few days ago, when there was a super moon, I wanted to get photos of it but every single time, the moon was just a white blob on the photo. So I started playing around with the MANY settings of my camera and by trial and error got the right settings to get good photos. I then realized, I needed to learn more about taking photos. I needed to know what those settings are and what things like Av and Tv mean. I then found this little eBook and have to say many things are so much clearer to me now. There are still many things I do not understand because even though the author said his book would be easy to understand, it wasn't in some parts. Some parts were just formulas and mathematical talk - I didn't get it. Apart from that, the book was extremely helpful and a good starting point!

All killer…no filler.
This is the guide I have been seeking! Mr. Judge distills photographic principals down to a quick read guide that is easy to understand and place into action. I was able to consume the guide in about an hour and I am leaving with greater confidence in my abilities as a photographer and a newfound vigor to apply the principals into action. The only critique I can provide is I wished the author included a intro to flash photography.

A great explanation of the basics
I needed to get my head around the different SLR camera elements (aperture, shutter etc) that are needed to take a good picture as i struggled to get good photos. This book put it into terms that I could understand and and gave me the initial tools to allow me to take photos that looked natural and I was also able to take them reasonably quickly. I was doing this on a family holiday and I wound up with some excellent photos that didn't impact on time with the family. I will be reading it again as there is a lot to learn from it and it isn't a long read. Nice work.
