Q: What is the actual cartridge size? - I need 9.8" to fit my housing

Dear Customer, Thanks for your question. The length of our filter is 10 inches(about 254mm), the outer diameter is 2.5 inches (about 63mm), the inner diameter is 1.1 inches (about 28.5mm). The measurements allowed error 0.05-0.1inch (about 1-2mm). These filters fit most 10" filter housing. If your housing is compatible with 10" filters, it may be works. Although our filters are a little longer than yours, you can press them into the unit. Please make sure the housing is compatible with 10" filters before ordering. Hope it can help you. Q: Is this the 7101026 pure pro filter?

Many companies make the 50 micron filter. It's a 50 micron filter but may have a different number but be equivalent to other models. It's confusing . If it's the right length and width, it will fit your filter.

Q: do you install the filter and then flush 5 gal water thru it?

I do not flush the filter with water after installing a new filter in an already-in-service filter housing. However, I would flush the system if I were making plumbing changes or installing a new filter housing. When changing filters I am careful to work under clean conditions and I rinse any residue out of the filter housing before inserting the new filter.
