Product Description With their unique approach to the Scottish tradition, Peatbog Faeries play to audiences all over the world. This album takes them in a new direction and could be long time producer Calum McLean's finest hour. As McLean said himself 'this album has been the best musical experience of my life'. New members have provided fresh impetus to the direction and creativity of the band: Fiddle player Peter Tickell brings a youthful enthusiasm. He has developed experimental techniques in the use of fiddle effects while remaining rooted in his tradition. Peter currently also plays in Sting's band. Drummer Stu Haikney brings a vast store of experience to the band and incorporates sampling into his live playing. The band prioritised live takes as the starting point for the album bringing the sound closer to the thrill of their "on stage" performances. The band began the process, in their studio, in Orbost, Skye before doing final takes in the studios of Cumbernauld College. The band loved working with the students there and "handpicked" four of them to take part in the engineering process under the beady eye of Calum Mclean Review "there's an engagingly live feel to this latest all-instrumental set, which ranges from furious work-outs to more thoughtful mood pieces, some written by their new fiddle-player Peter Tickell, who can also be heard in Sting's band" -- The Guardian

Another great album for Celtic rock fans!
I first saw the Peatbogs years ago in marquee at Henley Music Festival. They were electric! I've tried to see them live regurarly ever since, and they do tour in the sticks a bit so it's been possible! They are still absolutely sensational and have you boogeing in the isles very rapidly! The bagpipes and haunting melodies of celtic pipes create a stunningly beautiful atmosphere. Yet other tracks are stirring and pelt out the Celtic rhythms that the Peatbogs do so well. A must buy!

Energetic, matches the live act
Loads of energy, probably my favourite collection of their work, featuring The Naughty Step and Room 215! This music makes you feel so good, you can't help but feel energised. If you see the live act, you'll find dancing irresistible - this album will prepare you for the live act really well.Lots of clarity, really well put together.

Different
I have to be honest and say that they are starting to stray into mellodies I’m no longer keen on

More like the early stuff
I've got all of the Peatbog's back-catalogue on CD, but had been starting to go off them due to the excessive amount of brass in the mix. This CD was a breath of fresh air, however, as the brass has been toned down considerably; it's much more like Mellowosity in sound. There is still some brass there, but it doesn't interfere. Fantastic.

CD review
The latest offering is good. There is plenty of variety, some of the tracks reminded me of Leftfield in the background or some of the Red Indian Sacred Spirit chilled music. I have listened to it a few times now and it grows on me. Very enjoyable Celtic rock with some techno thrown into the mix

After saying that it is still good..
This album takes a bit more listening to than their other albums, and i am still not sure, which is why i only rated it four stars. After saying that it is still good..

Fantastic
Their best album yet. I thought Fairie Stories was good but taking out the Sax etc.. improves the PBF sound no end. They were brilliant playing this stuff live. Go and see them!

Excellent Modern Celtic Album
A brilliant album. If you have to buy one of their albums, buy this one. But beware, you'll want to buy the others, like I did.
