Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 chromax.black, Low-Profile CPU Cooler for AMD AM4 (Black)

I bought this heatsink in order to build a decent gaming computer in a very small case (Geeek A31) and I couldn't be happier. It cools an overclocked Ryzen 5 1600 (3.8 GHz) and never gets warmer than 72ºC under heavy load. The sound of the fan is very low, ideal for a silent computer. Either the fan or the aluminium block are very good quality and look gorgeous. The only drawback is the fact that you have to pay +£10 just to get this black version. If you don't mind the colour, just go for regular Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 so you can save some money.

While the cooler and parts are really well made, the backplate does NOT support all AM4 motherboards, my motherboard has cut outs on the stock backplate for chips so you cannot use the provided Noctua backplate, not unless you cut into it or modify it, otherwise you need to use the screws to mount the fan to mount the block through the stock motherboard backplate and find other screws for the fan to mount to the cooler block. Personally I had to modify the fan shroud a little bit on the edges where the screws go through so that the only screws I had would fit would reach the cooler but you can hardly notice that at all in the case due to it being dark and enclosed anyway (See image of cooler attached) The backplate in use is the stock MSI B550I motherboard one, with the fan screws being the same size thread as the mounting screws I was able to use those to mount things perfectly without any problems (Not my first PC by far, custom building for YEARS so I know when is safe to do so) The backplate provided by Noctua in the listing images do NOT have those extra top and bottom cut outs, something that I missed when I made my purchase so I was unable to use it, but I was able to work around that with an hour or two of carefully tweaking the fan. All in all had I not run into that issue I'd say 10/10 but because the listing did not match what I expected when it said compatible with AM4 motherboards and not being clear I'd say maybe a 9 though I do also take responsibility for not checking the pictures as carefully and tearing down my system before hand to double check, great product otherwise and runs cooler than my 240mm AIO I had before

Use this on an open air system (Hydra). Only a Ryzen 5600 but given how small this cooler is, it handles this with ease. Stress tests around 67/68 degrees fans get to 1900 rpm which you can barely hear. General use sub 60 degrees and inaudible. Perfect for my build and requirements which are not overly demanding.

I bought this cooler to use in an ITX Home Webserver I am building, so far with it paired to the AMD Ryzen 5 2600 CPU I have been very impressed with the way something so small can keep the temps down during my burn-in tests. I saw a reduction of between 3 - 5c when compared to the Stock Wraith cooler. If you are looking for a Low profile Good quality CPU cooler, this should be on your list for purchasing... Don't buy cheap alternatives, spend the money on a decent and you will only have to buy once!

This product is absolutely fantastic. I have a small pc and the stock amd cooler was obnoxiously loud in order to keep my pc cool, this fan is almost silent under most normal situations and only notice it when under heavy load. My temps have been fantastic since using this, the performance is incredible for the small size of this cooler! couldn't recommend enough for others with small form factor pcs!

What's there to add? Solid build quality. Virtually silent under normal load; fantastic cooling performance; one of the lowest profile coolers on the market despite its performance. Plus the new black designs (instead of silver/beige/brown) looks even better too!

I dont have any doubts this cooler works well but if you are thinking of buying this + the barcket kit for AM5 dont, the coating/screws used to hold the bracket together are so soft they strip when being unscrewed. Even if you do eventually get them out the screw holes will be too stripped to screw back in. Just buy the AM5 version...

El ventilador es una maravilla, muy silencioso y además de perfil bajo, ideal para cajas compactas. En mi caso lo he usado en un NAS casero metido en una caja MiniITX y con una CPU AMD Ryzen 5 que apenas se calienta. Lo pagas en el precio eso sí, pero el que compra Noctua sabe que compra calidad.

L'ho acquistato solo perchè la mia CPU veniva sprovvista di dissipatore. Mi è spiaciuto spendere 50 euro in più ma mi sono un po' consolato in quanto questo prodotto trasuda solidità, eleganza e qualità. Ho dovuto cercare online un video su come applicare la pasta termica: secondo il metodo più consigliato basta una goccia al centro del processore. - Ventola silenziosa, perlomeno relativamente a quella del mio alimentatore. - Anche se avevo un po' di timori si è rivelata oltremodo facile da installare. - Include un tubetto di pasta termica sufficiente per diverse applicazioni: mi ha dato la tranquillità di poter sbagliare e rifare se necessario (non è stato necessario). - La siringa per applicare la pasta termica era un po' dura, oppure non ho capito io come funziona: fatto sta che ho dovuto svitare la punta nera e toglierla per poter far uscire qualcosa.

Can't go wrong with Noctua fans. It was delivered as shown in the listing. Came well packaged. Fan is silent, i hardly hear it playing games with a ryzen 5600x and 3060 (single fan) gpu.

Joue très bien son rôle de refroidissement et en plus super silencieux, pour l'installation nécessite le démontage de la CM pour utiliser le support fourni .

I have four fans yet the cpu fan is spinning pretty fast on my ryzen 5 3600cpu. Buy only! For small builds and nothing else!
