Good for the price, but the low end is 50 to 80 Hz
These are very good headphones for the price range. The sound is good and crisp, the fit is comfortable and they hold up pretty well if you are halfway careful with them.I recently started to do some audio analysis, though and realized these headphones don't have any sound below 50 hertz, if an online tone generator is accurate. That's actually quite a bit better than the advertised lower end of the range: 80 hertz. There may a good deal less output at 50 hertz than at 80 hertz. At any rate don't expect great bass output.I recommend them as long as you know the limitations.

A clear winner! The Koss Sound is real at a bargain price.
Best buy I've made in a long time. These headphones are not just cheap, but they work exceedingly well. The sound is great, whether for music or streaming. I'm not an audiophil., I'm retired and wear hearing aids. As such I have a problem wearing the Apple style earbuds and the in-ear type earphones in general just don't work well. I've gotten discouraged with Bluetooth, trying to track down the mysterious extraneous connections that make it impossible to connect with what I want. Just clamp these on your head in literally a second and you get great sound. Just plug it in. No Bluetooth problems. And they weigh a couple ounces and cost just 5 bucks. A solid winner!Incidentally, for those who complain that the foam earpads don't last or fall off, Amazon sells replacements, but only in lots of 10 for about a dollar each. Just search for "koss kph7 replacement ear pads". Good deal if you have several pairs of earphones for schoolrooms or such; otherwise just buy a new pair for 5 bucks.

They work! Clear sound
Try them. They work. For a saw buck and the time it takes to arrive, these Koss head phones are worth every cent.Sound was perfect for me who primarily used them to watch movies on a tablet.I wore them everyday for many hours a day. The foam cushions started coming off after little wear. It was not a problem fitting back on. I wish the foam had been glued to the hard plastic. Trying to hear without the foam became uncomfortable, then sore.Prior to foam cover problem, fit was fully adjustable. As you might expect, earphones are not noise canceling. But the sound is clear, totally received in stereo. Item is as light as a feather. Wire length was great. 3.5mm plug stays in sturdily.

Perfect for this "uncool" mom, haha!
Our teenage son always seems to somehow 'confiscate' and then proceed to break and/or lose every set of earbud-type earphones in our house, including mine that came with my iPod. So, he has now been relegated to only owning the least expensive kind I can find for him (even if that means pink ones, lol). So, after perusing Amazon, I bought these headphones for him because 1) they were so inexpensive, 2) the reviews were pretty good, and 3) did I mention they were so inexpensive?Well, when they arrived, I opened them up to check them out and make sure they worked and such. I was impressed and I really liked them. But when I gave them to my son, I quickly learned that, according to my son, over-the-head type "headphones" (as opposed to the in-ear or ear bud type) are so "80's" and "uncool looking". Was I angry at him for basically calling me "old and uncool" for liking these headphones? No way!! This was my perfect solution to keep him from "borrowing" and then losing/breaking MY headphones. Besides, I never really liked the ones that go into the ears anyhow. So now these are mine! For what it's worth, I feel neither "old" nor "uncool" while wearing them. I promise!!*They fit great, they are snug but not TOO snug. If I was into jogging and/or some other type of strenuous exercise, I don't think I would have any trouble keeping them in place on my ears/head (I swim for exercise so obviously I can't wear them for that, lol).*The quality of sound is fantastic to me - although I'm not really an "audio snob".*They are extremely adjustable on both sides although I happen to use them on the smallest setting without needing to make them any bigger.*They are lightweight, as stated in the description, but not in a 'flimsy' kind of way. I don't think they are any more or less breakable than any other kind of similar headphones (yes, I did go through many sets of headphones like these during the 1980's).Since I don't expect to be rough with them at all, I am hoping they last me quite awhile. If not, and they do somehow break, at least I wouldn't feel *too* bad only being out a few dollars. I would ABSOLUTELY order these again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for inexpensive, but nice, headphones. They are perfect for this "uncool" mom. :-)***UPDATE*** June, 2015: Well it's been nearly two years and I've gone through about three pairs of these headphones (and I'm going to order a few more after I write this - now that they have pretty color options). Not one pair has broken yet, they just seem to get lost somehow (in our house, we joke that when things go missing it's because unicorns come and eat them). I'm glad they have color options now and I would still absolutely recommend these inexpensive, and nice, headphones.

Good price, but cushions kept falling off
Nice headset, but the earphones cushions kept coming off

Good but quiet $5 headphone
Little to complain about for the price except for the unexpectedly low sound output. Volume on my MP3 was cranked near max just to drown out the treadmill...and we're talking Korn and RAM. Otherwise, comfortable, lightweight with good bass. Also, the jack fits loosely into my MP3 player without the expected "click". I hate to say it, but the pack of 5/$10 I just received, despite inferior sound quality, are louder and more suited to my sweaty "Non-Audiophile" listening needs.

Has that classic look with a very, very good fit, finish, and feel, without being over stated.
I had some original Sony MDR110LP from back in the 90's-00's that are now discontinued and over priced. Got them originally with my walkmans and I love the classic look, feel, and sound. This Koss KPH7 are very very close. The sound is a little more treble than warm, and the sony's were nice and warm sounding, but still light and open, but this Koss is in no way tinny sounding. Both basically work like open back headphones because the drivers are so small (they dont cover the whole ear, like larger over ear headphones), so some sound is able to travel out through the foam pads. They are not loud, even with sound on my flac player turned up to 80-85%, but i rarely need to go past that. Any more than that and you get distortion. If you are used to larger over the ear studio monitors or high end open backed headphones, this will be a step down. And in general, sound quality is average, maybe even a little less than your average sony, philips, or apple in-ear phones. But I bought it because i still prefer headphones over in-ear phones and I do prefer the comfort and open sound these give compared to any in-ear phones, whether high end or consumer - and i do have multiple pairs of in-ears from consumer bose, philips, sony, apple, to high end sennheiser. For general, casual listening, outdoors or indoors, I have a use for these, and I really like them. They are light weight, comfortable, more durable than in-ear phones, and I'm okay with sacrificing some sound quality to get more airy, open-ness.The value is amazing for the price. And if you're looking to replicate that vintage 80-90's sounding tech of portable cd players, walkman, and hand-held television/gameboys, this completely reminds me of that analog sound, maybe not the best warm, and full analog sound, but still -these are very nicely made, the materials are better than average for on-ear heaphones. They have nice clamp pressure, which can be forced looser if needed, and the pads are very very comfy.I would recommend these for what they offer, and for their price. If you just need some very comfortable on-ear phones that you can wear all day and don't want to look flashy with your over-sized over ear headphones, and know that sound will just be decent, for 7$ I'd pick these up while they are still being made.On-ear headphone of this style and size are limited, but this one has that classic look, with a very very good fit, finish, and feel, without being over stated -just a 90's kid in the modern world, rockin headband style phones and comfy foam pads.

These ARE NOT RECOMMENDED: JUNK HEADPHONES
Horrible headphones, not worth more around $1.00. Bought 2 sets, 1 for myself and 1 for my wife.Within just an hour or two if my wife using hers one of the earpiece pads just fell off and wasn't able to be reattached, it just split apart, rendering it useless. The audio from them is the worst I've ever heard, as a matter of fact I bought a set that was much nicer and cost less than these at my local Dollar General, and those were even better made and far superior sound quality too.I can't even describe how horrid the sound is on these, but I sure can't see why anyone, especially a school would recommend these for young students, they're not a great quality in build or audio for student use. Absolutely not.I only bought these because my local D.G. Store was closed currently out of stock and no idea when they'll get the ones that lasted me over 7 years for a smaller price, folded up, had noise cancellation, and the ear coverings were like very soft earmuffs covered in plastic, comfortable. These terrible headphones had none of this, but I did expect a better quality audio, but I believe the audio is diminished by using 32-ohm speakers instead of the standard 8-ohm type which gives far superior sound quality(my opinion) but that's also what my Dollar General headphones were rated 8-ohm and until I accidentally sat on them and broke one side off, I'd still be using those.I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE HEADPHONES! LOOK FOR A BETTER QUALITY PAIR. These are junk.

Fantastic value, perfect for cw
I like these very much. I've seen them for sale for radio use and I wanted a small pair of on-ear headphones for ham radio cw use. They are great, light, decent-sound at the necessary 400 - 800 Hz that most morse code is done at, and robust so they are unlikely to break if chucked into a rucksack for portable operating. And at less than £10 you can't question the value for money. Only down-side is that that you have to drive them quite hard compared to ear-buds and another thing to bear in mind is that they don't isolate much, so you can still hear things going on around you. That's neither positive nor negative, just bear in mind that in loud ambient noise you won't hear the head-phones. Highly recommended for cw.
