Common Core Practice - 8th Grade English Language Arts: Workbooks to Prepare for the PARCC or Smarter Balanced Test: CCSS Aligned

I am an English Language Arts tutor and, over this past summer and to today, have used this book with my 7-8th grade student.The various exercises in this resource have proven to be invaluable in helping my student to prepare for tests and also review topics that have been focused upon for his class assignments.His understanding of the topics addressed in this book has greatly increased, as well as his skill level. His level of confidence as, thereby, increased and he has been more successful in his homework assignments and tests.I highly recommend this Lumos tedbook resource to teachers, parents and tutors.

This book is set up exactly like the book in our public school but I like the content much better. There is a variety of different stories and poems, not just old English style which is what the public school book was. There is also an online version of the book which gives you a few more options when taking the test (for example you can choose how many questions are on the test 5, 10,15, or 20).

In general, great resource to use prior to testing. I used as a PDN in my classes the weeks before tests. Covers a variety of topics, which is very helpful. A few answers were wrong, but not enough to not buy. Not a lot of great resources out there, this one ranks higher than the rest.

I was looking for something a little more user friendly. I'm not a teacher but tutor as a volunteer through my church. This book really is too time consuming.

This book was a very effective way to practice the common core standards for eight grade English. With its 40+ skills, mastering the standard was very easy for me. In PARCC, I received very high scores all thanks to this practice book. The format is clear and all the practice problems given have easy to understand explanations. I am so thankful for this book for helping me achieve my target scores and above in the PARCC test!

The photo shows just one example of the typographical errors in this book. So if I want to use a lot of the activities from it, I will have to retype them. I'm disappointed in this purchase.

This book was very helpful in preparing my students for our end of the year general summative assessment. We no longer use the Smarter Balanced test, but this book is standards-aligned​ and really helps assess the student's mastery of certain skills.

I love that the book is organized by common core standards. It has been great tool to use for extra homework and remediation. Highly reccomend
