Same event from different perspectives paints an amazingly grimdark picture! Review: Great book, great price - One of my favorite Horus Heresy books. Fulgrim’s fall is quite tragic.

Good development of Fulgrim and base building for EC
Great story of Fulgrim during, before and after the fall of Horus to Chaos. Establishes Fulgrims character quite well, with many well developed moments with his Legion and followers. My only main complaint I have with this novel is the ending felt rushed. One chapter we're cruising along nicely with details and lore, the next chapter we are at the ending battle. Didn't feel right upon reading, but not totally ruined because of this. Also great development of brotherhood and friendship between Fulgrim and Ferrus Manus. Good lore between the two of them that really gives the feeling of love and care between two brothers. Overall great entry, only complaint again is the rushed ending.

excellence
This book started slow but built up into a solid foundation of chaos that dives into the changes of a god. It is perfection.

Good and Evil
In the battle between good and evil, I prefer that good wins. The demons of the warp are taking over.

it was was ok. Get good at the end.
The writing in this book wasn’t as captivating as the previous books in the series. The book fwlt like it was written simply to progress the overall storyline in the series. Fulgrim’s character seems bland and generic. I get that he was a perfectionist, so he just stomps around needing everything to be perfect without any sort of reason. The same goes for his army. It just felt redundant for 3/4 of the book. It was a slog for me to get until the books turning point which happens closer to the end. I’ve read far worse but I’ve also read better - especially in this series.
