I first bought these placemats in March 2018 and LOVED them. They stuck perfectly on any surface and we never left the house without them. So we eventually ran out and had to order more. I reordered in August 2018, and I didn't think much about the product page headline having been updated to say "perfected design". They looked the same to me when they arrived. And then I tried to use a placemat from the new batch. For one thing, it's difficult to get the adhesive strip pulled off the plastic in order to stick it to the table - I never struggled with removing the strips from the placemats in the earlier batch. Then it's just as difficult to get the thing unstuck from the table!! On my first attempt, it actually ripped the placemat apart and left a strip of plastic stuck to the table. I try to be a courteous diner and I remove the placemat from the table before leaving a restaurant. To my horror, at two different restaurants where we had dined many times previously with the original batch of these placemats (with no issue), when I removed the new "perfected design" placemat from the table, it REMOVED A STRIP OF LACQUER AND STAIN FROM THE TABLE along with the placemat adhesive, which was terribly embarrassing to have caused damage to the table at restaurants we frequently visit. The first time it happened, I thought it was a fluke, but after the second time, I've decided we can't use these placemats on wood tables any more. :( I still carry some with us, because they are still useful on glass and metal tables....plus I have a LOT of them left and would like to get some use out of my purchase. But I am now looking for a new brand so I can carry one item with me that I can use on any type of table at any restaurant. I wish this product design hadn't been "perfected". It was perfect the way it was before and I had recommended it to so many people. Needless to say, I won't be ordering any more. :(

Left residue all over table at the restaurant and it did not come off!

These mats are exactly as advertised - cute, super sticky, and great for providing a clean surface for restaurant eating.However, they are so sticky that I feel the need to “test” a small section on each new surface to make sure it will not damage the table top (no issues yet but other reviews have noted concerns).Additionally, you have to peel back the adhesive backing on each of the four sides individually before using - this can get a little frustrating and time consuming when trying to quickly get a child situated at the table and results in four separate pieces of trash.Overall these are attractive and functional but slightly fussy to use given the multiple adhesive points and the need to test the surface to ensure it will not be damaged when removing the mats.

Super cute and functional up until I tried to remove it from the restaurant table. I couldn't get the placemat off initially. After firmly but carefully peeling it finally came off of the linoleum table top , but left nasty super sticky crap all over the table. It took 30 minutes of rubbing to get it off the table. Super glad I didn't stick it to my wood table at home. Pretty sure it would taken the finish off.

We first saw adhesive placements used by friends and quickly realized how brilliant the idea was. When our little one got to the point of needing to use placements, we immediately invested in a few packs. Unfortunately, at the time the only options were imprinted with cartoon characters and weren't quite as easy to use as I had hoped.When we went to order more we came across the Tidy Tyke mats and are extremely happy we did! The most obvious thing that stood out (and the reason we initially order them) is the cleaner design. While we have nothing against cartoon characters, Tidy Tyke's designs seem to fit us much better. Another noticeable difference is the ease in use. After strapping your kid into a high chair, it's always a mad dash to get a mat stuck down as quickly as possible so the little one can start eating and doesn't panic in the middle of a restaurant. With competitor's mats I would end up frustrated that I couldn't get the little sticky tabs peeled off quickly enough - eventually my wife would end up grabbing the mat and delicately attempt to peel the tabs off, all while the little one gets more and more antsy. To my extreme pleasure, the Tidy Tyke tabs come of easily and quickly. My only complaint is that I didn't purchase them sooner!!

Fantastic! But a little too sticky. Restaurants etc, are fine but on someone’s dining table ahh well then you have to get creative. Remove the protective seal on edges, put the mat on your shirt to get some lint in there and make it less sticky and it is good to go and still sticks. So nice to see my granddaughter eating her food off of this in restaurants instead of the table!!!

These are so sticky that my son can't take them off. My son chews on the edges of the table, so I use this to cover the edge of the table also. It is cute and not tacky. I like that I don't have to wipe down the table at places like museum/aquarium food courts, where they might not clean the tables after each use.

We have used different brands of these for years but these are the first we found that our kiddos can’t immeadiately R.I.P. off without a little effort. The adhesive is the strongest I’ve found and still easy for me to remove at the end of the meal. It came with a ton so I am not sure if we will use them all up before my kid graduates to using a plate when eating out but if we don’t they will be perfect for protecting the table from art projects! Seriously love this product!!!

These mats are great for little diners. I don't worry about the table's germs. My little one had a phase with throwing plates, so I was able to put the food right onto the table without any worries. I even wrap the bottom of the mat AROUND the table, as teething babies like to chew on the table's edge or toddler's tend to touch underneath (where it rarely gets a wipe, let's be honest). They are super sticky and my curious toddler was unable to peel the mat off of the table. Wait staff and customers always comment on what a great invention this is. I've shared them with many friends at our play/lunch dates, and they are all impressed. The packaging is great too: slim design in a resealable bag, which slips very easily into a diaper bag, purse, or car console.

These mats work great. They are big enough, people seem to love that we bring them, and they sure do stay put. But that's the problem... the "tape" they use on these is EXTREMELY sticky. We were at a restaurant once where when I pulled it up, it brought some of the finish from the table up with it! I mean, I realize it was an old, worn table, but yikes. Thankfully it was the kind of place where everything was pretty worn and the tables all had a level of "character" so this didn't stand out, but I certainly noticed it. So be careful with these.

I originally bought some from Wal-Mart and they were only sticky on 2 sides. My son would pull them off the table as soon as I pulled him up to his spot! It was so frustrating... I was looking for some that were sticky on all four sides and that wouldn't come up easily since my son loves to take them off the table. I hit the jackpot with these!! They are super sticky and he can't pull them off at all. He even stopped trying! LOL! The only thing I would say about these is be careful not to leave them on the table too long. I used them at home a few times and left one on for breakfast and then lunch. By the time I pulled it off the table after lunch, it was really hard to pull off and I had to clean the sticky off the table. It was my own fault though for leaving it on too long! They definitely work though and I'd by them again for sure!

Bought these for our baby when I saw a friend of mine pull out these mats for her baby. Didn’t opt to use one of hers and immediately regretted it LOL. We were at the mall and my baby was touching the table and all this great stuff, only to projectile vomit a couple of hours later. Not sure what that was about, but that night I ordered these mats and have been using them ever since. Great quality adhesive, thick enough plastic to keep the table clean. I think the adhesive makes it a little difficult to remove from the surface but that’s okay because then my kid can’t remove it.

I purchased this thinking that with all four sides of sticky tape it will keep in place no matter how fidgety the toddler gets. Well, it surely kept well in place and the design is more modern than others that scream for baby! BUT if its too hard to remove then that’s a problem too! We used ours at a restaurant, was impressed on how well it stuck and stayed in place with the baby trying to pull it off. Finished dinner and went to remove it but the sticky tape was so strong it wouldn’t come off clean! Needless to say it left a residue on the table and I felt terrible about it. Thankfully the table was a smooth surface so didn’t remove the paint surface but had it been a painted surface it would have definitely peeled paint off. I didn’t want to test out another table so ended up returning them.It does what it says it does, just too strong of an adhesive and don’t want to ruin other peoples tables.

These might actually be too sticky. Sometimes sticky residue is left on the restaurant table when I pull it up, but overall I love these, I had a different brand before that were dark blue with zoo animals and it was hard for my infant to see/notice the food on it bc it was camouflaged in with the print. These are much more practical and we bring stickers to the restaurant to “decorate” it while we wait for food.

We don’t go to a restaurant without this!!! So easy to use and baby can’t rip it off. Makes for a very easy clean up and I’m sure restaurants appreciate the help with that! Will purchase more when we run out.
