1969 - The Year of Eddy Merckx

This is a very special book! Outstanding photographs that you will not see anywhere else. Interviews with Merckx, his family, De Vlaeminck - anybody who was connected with that year. The book is such a treasure - it's like a time machine that takes you into the center of professional cycling. Very well written and edited. Highly recommended!

This book provides the royal treatement for what Eddy Merckx considered himself to be his best year: 1969. Interviews, contemporary newspaper articles, competitors profiles, gorgeous illustrations and even a signed photo of Eddy, this book offers much more than what you can find surfing the net. It is the ultimate large format book for the larger than life Belgian champ. Quite a few of these late 1960s-70s classic riders are still alive but now in their 70s or 80s, and I hope more work like this one can be put together using first hand accounts.

Hands down, this is the best big book on Merckx to be found via both pics and the writing...and I own all of them. Also, just a gorgeous, well made edition. So well done and appreciated.

If you’re a fan of accountable, this is a must have an a must read. Accounts of all of his races in 1969. I’m a geek, so I bought it.

Quite simply this is the best cycling book I have ever bought,and I have hundreds.The photo's are superb,the writing first class,and the greatest cyclist ever,who could want for more,oh and a wonderful signed A4 photo of Le Cannibale to go with it.

This is an absolute triumph. Superbly presented record of Merckx’s 1969 season. Great photos some of them I’ve not seen before. £65 is a lot for a book, but I would say this still represents good value.
