WWE: WrestleMania 36 [DVD]

Wrestlemania
This three disc DVD contains the entirety of Wrestlemania 36. It was the strangest Wrestlemania so far and has a very different feel. Firstly it was a two night event so you essentially get two events on this DVD. Secondly there was no audience as this was the first major event to take place during the Covid-19 pandemic. Both nights are hosted by Rob Gronkowski; He does an awful job and is pretty unbearable but thankfully he's not on the show that much. There are a good amount of bonus features, with plenty of segments from RAW and Smackdown, the pre-show matches and a bonus match from after Wrestlemania.NIGHT ONECesaro vs. Drew Gulak - This was the pre-show match from the first night. It was kept fairly short but was still an enjoyable match. It was a technical, back and forth match with some good psychology as Drew targeted Cesaro's arm and shoulder throughout. It only got five minutes and it could have been even better with more time, but it's understandable that they'd want short matches without a crowd. An entertaining little wrestling match. The Kabuki Warriors vs. Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross - After a bizarre opening video about pirates, this is our opening match. It's for the Warriors' Women's Tag Team Championship. It was a really good match to kick off the show. The action was entertaining from start to finish. It was well paced and given a good amount of time. They almost made me forget there was no crowd because the interactions you could hear between them were so enjoyable. There were some good near-falls and teamwork and they built to a good, decisive finish. A strong start to the show.King Corbin vs. Elias - This match was alright, the action in the ring wasn't bad or anything, but I didn't think it was any better than that. It felt more like a match you'd see on RAW or Smackdown rather than Wrestlemania. I'm not invested in either character so maybe that had something to do with it but there was nothing here to really draw me in. There were a couple of enjoyable moments but it was an otherwise not that memorable match.Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler - This was for the RAW Women's Championship, and in my opinion should have been the main event of night one. The action here was great, it was a really hard-hitting fight where they just beat each other up. There were plenty of reversals and everything they did served a purpose. It was a bit shorter than I would have liked as the finish felt a bit sudden but all the action we did get I was very happy with. A fantastic fight and I'd love to see a rematch.Sami Zayn vs. Daniel Bryan - This was for Sami's Intercontinental Championship. This was a match that was both entertaining and disappointing. It was disappointing because these are two of the best wrestlers on the planet and they only had a very short time to work with, I was hoping for a long, exciting match here. In the short match they did have there was entertaining action though. Sami was a great heel, trying to stall and keep away from Bryan as much as possible. Bryan eventually caught him and then we had a good few minutes of exciting action. I wanted way more than this but what little we got was all very good.Kofi Kingston(New Day) vs. John Morrison(Miz and Morrison) vs. Jimmy Uso(The Usos) - This was a Triple Threat Ladder match for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship. Each team is represented by one member of their team. That concept felt a bit weird but they made up for it by having a really good match. Everyone worked hard and they still took a bunch of risks even without a crowd in the building. John Morrison in particular impressed me here. It got a good amount of time and all of it was enjoyable.Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens - In my opinion this was the best match of the first night. An absolutely fantastic match with great back and forth action, plenty of reversals and a fast, exciting pace. It did have a break due to countout that was then restarted which felt unnecessary and I feel without that the match would have been even better, however it didn't hurt things too much and set things up for a pretty cool moment. They got a good amount of time and built to a strong and decisive finish. A fantastic match.Goldberg vs. Braun Strowman - This was for Goldberg's Universal Championship. It was originally meant to be Roman Reigns he was facing but, due to the pandemic, Roman had to be replaced. That was a shame because Roman vs. Goldberg could have been a lot of fun. This match was not so much. It was a World title match that lasted for less than five minutes. It was just a bunch of finishers with nothing else to it. It was a disappointment overall. The Undertaker vs. AJ Styles - This was the main event of night one and it was a Boneyard match. It was a cinematic style of match, with no commentary, interesting camera angles and general silliness. It took place in a graveyard and was certainly an interesting match. Normally I wouldn't want a match like this to be part of Wrestlemania but due to the crowd-less arena it actually added something quite fun and different. You can't take any of it too seriously but if you just sit back and switch your brain off you have a really fun and entertaining match to close out the show.NIGHT TWOLiv Morgan vs. Natalya - This was the pre-show match for the second show. It was a good, back and forth match. Like the previous pre-show match it was fairly short but they got a good amount of action into their time. There were plenty of reversals and near-falls as the match went on and it built well to a good, decisive finish. Nothing here that'll blow you away but still an enjoyable bonus match.Rhea Ripley vs. Charlotte Flair - The show was opened by this match for the NXT Women's Championship. In my opinion this was the best match from either show. It had really enjoyable back and forth action. There was some strong psychology as Charlotte viciously went after Ripley's knee in order to set up for the Figure-Eight submission hold. There were some good reversals and near-falls throughout along with the drama built around submission attempts. It had a good amount of time and built to a strong, decisive finish.Aleister Black vs. Bobby Lashley - This was a good back and forth match. It wasn't anything special for a Wrestlemania but it was good to see Black on a Wrestlemania card. The action was entertaining enough, with Lashley using his strength advantage and Black staying in the fight with his impressive strikes. I thought the Lana interruption towards the finish was completely unnecessary but we still got a satisfying finish out of it. A good, competitive match overall.Dolph Ziggler vs. Otis - This felt like a weird match for Wrestlemania but people got really into the Otis and Mandy Rose story-line. That kind of made the match work and feel like it belonged here. The match wasn't anything special, but I did still enjoy it. It had everything it needed. It wasn't too long and the Mandy and Sonya involvement worked perfectly. It had a good finish and was a feel-good moment in a time that really needed one.Edge vs. Randy Orton - This was a Last Man Standing match and Edge's first singles match back after nine years away with an injury. It was a pretty decisive match. I personally enjoyed it. It felt different from the rest of the show as they left the ring and fought through the backstage area for the majority of the action. There were some creative moments and plenty of entertaining action. A lot of people feel it was too long and I can understand that, it may have been a little bit long but I still enjoyed the entire match. It was overall a good and memorable first match back for Edge. The Street Profits vs. Austin Theory and Angel Garza - The Street Profits' RAW Tag Team Championship was on the line here. It was another good match. I wasn't that invested in it before-hand but they delivered a very enjoyable match. It was fairly short but it kept up a fast pace full of action. There were some good reversals and near-falls and strong teamwork on both sides leading to a decisive finish. A quick, fun match.Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Naomi vs. Lacey Evans vs. Tamina - This was a Five-Way Elimination match for the Smackdown Women's Championship. It was a very good match with lots going on. There were strong interactions between everyone involved such as everyone teaming up to take out Tamina, Sasha and Bayley's relationship coming into play and the continuation of Lacey's feud with Bayley. It got a good amount of time and all of it was entertaining. A really strong match.John Cena vs. "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt - This was the most bizarre match on the show, if you could even call it a match. If you watch it as a match, it's terrible. As some kind of warped character study on the history of John Cena and all his weaknesses and insecurities it's incredible. There's no way to really explain how good this was with all the detail and effort they put in. Also the "finish" was just incredible. Great stuff, but it won't be for everyone.Brock Lesnar vs. Drew McIntyre - This was the main event of night two, and was for the WWE Championship. Like the previous world title match this one was disappointing. it was kept under five minutes and was mainly finishers. It was more enjoyable than the Braun/Goldberg match overall though. I was more invested in the outcome, there was more doubt involved and it was more of a feel-good moment. While it wasn't a good match it was still a strong way to finish the show, it's such a shame it couldn't have taken place in front of a crowd though.EXTRAS-The Beast Beckons (RAW 02/03/2020)-Rated RKO (RAW 02/03/2020)-A Phenomenal Mistake (RAW 09/03/2020)-Rated R for Revenge (RAW 09/03/2020)-The Queen has Spoken (NXT 11/03/2020)-Advocating Pain (RAW 23/03/2020)-Have a Seat (RAW 23/03/2020)-Deadman Talking (RAW 30/03/2020)-Hare Today, Gone Tomorrow (Smackdown 03/04/2020)Drew McIntyre vs. Big Show - This was aired on RAW after Wrestlemania but apparently took place just after Wrestlemania went off the air, so Drew had already faced Brock Lesnar. It was for the WWE Championship. It was a better match than the Brock one, which I never would have thought before watching both matches. It's a match with a simple story of Big Show using his strength and size to dominate McIntyre and Drew desperately trying to fight back. There are some good near-falls and it lasts a decent amount of time. It's not the best match but better than the main event was, it was an entertaining, competitive match. This was certainly an interesting Wrestlemania. Considering the limitations they had put on them with the pandemic situation they did a fantastic job with this show. It wasn't perfect but it was entertaining from start to finish and a good way to take peoples minds of the current events. Some matches weren't that great but as you have two nights of action, there's more than enough Wrestlemania worthy matches to fill this DVD and I'd definitely recommend giving it a watch.

Despite COVID-19, WrestleMania 36 goes on!
COVID-19 affected everyone and everything this year, including WrestleMania. To WWE’s credit, they staged WrestleMania 36 from the WWE Performance Centre in Florida this year in front of no audience; trying to provide much-needed escapism in these terrible times. This two-night WrestleMania Show - all things considered - is actually a good show overall. Despite no audience to provide the atmosphere, WrestleMania 36 provides some very good highlights; with the best being a great ladder match, Charlotte Flair vs. Rhea Ripley, Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens, the Five-Way Women’s match, and the terrific Boneyard Match between the Undertaker and AJ Styles.Oh, yes...and there’s a Firefly Funhouse Match between John Cena and the Fiend. Which is either the best thing in all of wrestling or the single-worst-thing-ever. I can’t decide...Some very good action, great moments and a nice selection of extras on this DVD as well. All things considered, a very good WrestleMania. Recommended!

It's a great show!
WrestleMania 36 was awesome, considering how much they had to adapt because of the coronavirus pandemic. The show was originally supposed to be in a major stadium however because of the pandemic, it couldn't be. Excellent show overall WWE did an amazing job with it, they should all be congratulated.Thank youJason
