My new favorite gardening tool 🥕🥬 🌶️ 🫛
I can't recommend the Seeding Square tool highly enough – it's truly a game-changer! If you're gardening with young children, this tool is an absolute must-have. I've always been a fan of square foot gardening. Recently I have incorporated it into my work as a School Garden Coordinator. I work with seven elementary schools, delivering garden-based lessons and assisting with garden planting and maintenance. Square foot gardening is an excellent technique for maximizing produce yields across all of the uniquely sized school gardens. However, getting young students to accurately plant seeds using rulers has always been a challenge. I've experimented with various methods like twine grids, chopsticks, seed tape, and cardboard templates, but none have provided the accuracy needed. I've often found myself spending countless hours after school replanting seeds to ensure proper spacing and depth. The Seeding Square has been a revelation. It's sturdy, easy to secure in the garden bed, and features color-coded holes that correspond to an easy-to-use guide. Even kindergarteners can easily plant seeds correctly with this tool! The included dual-purpose wand ensures that holes are made to the correct depth, and the spoon makes it easy to scoop up tiny seeds without spillage. The funnel is especially great for young children who are still developing their fine motor skills. It makes depositing the seeds into the designated spot a breeze. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to this great tool, and consider gifting it to the gardeners in your life. Happy gardening! 🌸 Update April 11th 2025: Photo of my students and I with the Seeding Square in action. This tool is a huge hit with the kids, and it makes my life so much easier. Thank you SO much to the creator of this tool, Jennifer Pratt!

Makes SqFt Gardening simple and quick!
I am new to gardening and Epic Gardening recommended square foot gardening as an easy beginner technique. I wanted to remove as much room for error so I purchased this and it made planting 2 8x4 gardens a sinch! Item is a good quality and I love the added depth gauge and funnel that has been integrated into the design to make direct sowing easier. Cheap for the value and would definitely recommend to anyone getting started in square foot gardening. Made it easy for my kids to help too.

Honest review - pros & cons with some tips :)
I heard about this product in a gardening group on Facebook. A few people raved about it, others complained about the price tag. But I was curious. I'd been putting in various gardens (perennials, annuals, planters) at my new home for the past year and had just installed 280 feet of raised veggie beds that needed planted. I was tired of dragging a tape measure around with me. So I thought I'd give it a try. First off I'd like to say I think this product is really well suited to "raised vegetable bed gardening" and to two particular groups of people -- those who are brand new to gardening and really haven't gotten a good sense of proper plant spacing, and us old-timers with bad knees and aching backs who just want to make the planting process as fast as possible so we can go inside and take an advil, LOL. If you are a super-sturdy 35 year old who has been gardening for a few years you might think this product is unnecessary. But for those who are just learning, or who are teaching kids, or who are starting to having some issues gardening without pain, this thing is a great tool. With a few caveats. You can probably use this in garden beds for flowers, etc., but I don't see that being as useful as in raised veggie beds where squares and rows work the best. A few problems I encountered were lumpy dirt, loose dirt, and the poker product that comes with it for making the holes have a few issues. Here are some tips for making this work better for you: 1) Level the section you are about to plant as perfectly as possible before starting. Remove any lumping soil as it will prevent you from getting the square to lay down nicely. 2) WET your soil with a hose before starting. Not soaking wet (you don't want mud), but enough so that when you press this into the soil you can see your squares. If your soil is too dry you don't see the marks you are making. 3) The orange "poker" stick that is supposed to make the holes is kind of a mixed bag. A lot of seeds only want to be planted 1/4" or 1/2" down, but if you press the poker only 1/4" into the soil thru the template, a lot of times you can't see where your holes are. So I learned to just make the biggest holes I could then go back and rub the soil where the holes are to the proper depth. So I didn't really use the poker to measure so much as I did just to make the holes. You'll see what I mean when you use the product. Otherwise, highly recommend. Saved me a TON of time planting the corn patch and some other things!!

Good simple tool to help with vegetable garden planning
This gardening tool is a great idea. It gives you clear guidance on how to plant seeds in your home garden. We will be using it in our raised bed vegetable garden boxes this Spring. It is a simple plastic square with very helpful information. For the novice or non-expert, it is a good tool at a good price. Good value. I recommend.

Excellent product. I have bought 4 of these seeding square's as I belong to a gardening group, to give confidence to people who want to learn how to grow their own veg. This product takes the guess work out of how deep or at what space should I plant the seeds. I highly recommend these seeding square's for square foot gardening.

This plastic template works quite well and is very sturdy. I find little use in the plastic seed "distribution cup/funnel" that is stored under the template but I did try it and then promptly put it aside. The measuring stick has proven very useful, with the soil depths clearly marked and the seed scoop on the end proved to be helpful with seed distribution into the holes made by the measuring stick. I used the square foot gardening method in the past but without the template; I prefer using this ABS plastic template, combined with the colour-coded holes and the accompanying seeding information sheet. Overall, I am very happy with this template and highly recommend it.
