UPDATE: Wow, this thing lasted 9 years. And I can still say it's the best hand-held egg beater on the market. A plastic tip finally broke off (one of the pinchers where the individual beater snaps into place). 9 years - not as long as my old beater, but I'm back and I've bought this again because it's far superior to use. I used mine at least every 2 days. Some days twice a day. It's just that handy, and that easy to clean. My original review is below:I use(d) my old style manual beater quite a bit, and decided to order the OXO Egg Beater in hopes it would do a better job and be easier to clean.I've since tossed out the old one. I'm `one of those' who can't abide egg whites and yolks not being perfectly incorporated in scrambled eggs (though I do enjoy poached, easy over, etc., so go figure!). These do the job, unlike the old style.These are also so much easier on your hands - they meant it when they labeled it `Good Grips'. Ergonomic is the word that comes to mind for the entire design.Cleanup is also far easier with no `egg gunk' left behind in crevices or hard to reach places. I've hand washed and dishwasher washed them, and these are super easy to clean. Hand washing takes very little time, and unlike the old style and you don't pull these out of your drawer and wonder if perhaps that tiny bit of dried stuff you just can't quit get washed is unsafe.They also take up less room and store more easily than the older style manual beaters - this came as a pleasant surprise.The Oxo Good Grips Egg Beater work great for scrambled eggs, French toast and pancake batters, egg whites, whipping cream, instant pudding, and all liquid-y mixtures. I wouldn't use these for cake batters or anything thick. These are a must-have in our kitchen!

This mixer is perfect for my use case.....scrambled eggs! It's well made, typical of OXO. I like that it is handheld not electric. Takes me right back to the 1960s in a good way. It mixes very well. Makes scrambled eggs taste like Mom's. Easy to pop off the beaters and put in the dishwasher.

All in all, this hand-held egg beater is pretty great! It's comfortable to hold and extremely easy to clean and manage. The rotational gears are extremely smooth as well. For lightly beating egg yolks/whites, liquid mixtures, and light creams it's a major investment. However, if you're getting it to substitute an electric beater, I'd personally save up a little more for a more versatile utility. For the first few minutes this egg beater is great! It can get egg whites frothy immediately with no problem and works just like any other electric whisk, but after the three minute mark, when the egg whites start to triple in volume and get thicker, it's tough. Even after spinning the grip for minutes, my meringue would not get stiff peaks because the whites had already sunken in on themselves. My french macarons came out a disaster and I'm not looking for my electric whisk once again.Basically, for everyday uses, this thing is wonderful! Again, it's simple and easy to clean, but you'd be better off using an electric whisk - hand-held or standing - for thicker mixtures. Still, I'll be keeping this for future uses, so it was an alright investment - just not for what I had gotten it for.

Best hand mixer ever made! I've had one for a long, long time. I just bought another for the RV as can't cook without one in my kitchen. Great for batters , puddings and whipping cream. Cleans easily, handle design gives good control over beating process and good beater power and speed for cranking ratio. Strong recommend!!!!!

Does it work? Yes. Does it make mixing cookie batter like 10,000 times easier? Also yes. I bought this on a whim because I hate messing with the stand mixer and the electric beater is a pain to get out a plug in. This? No plugs to mess with, lightweight, and does the job. My recipe calls to beat eggs until firm. This does that and it's easy to clean. I like to use old recipes. Now I can cook like it's 1899 with my non-electric beater (just don't make me use a wood fire stove, okay?).Let's see, the ideas box also wants me to add more: Holds nicely in the hand. Doesn't splatter all over the place. Good price. Oh, and it fits in the drawer. Comes apart in the middle and it's dishwasher safe (bottom part only).TLDR; It does the job and does it well. Try it if you need a beater.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this eggbeater - so glad I made this purchase, everyone should have one of these beaters. I have my mother's beater from back in the day, but this one works much smoother and easier, it's also a snap to clean off the beaters. No need to really pull it apart to wash the beaters, just rinse the beaters under hot water still attached to rest of the item, then just wipe dry - easy peasy. I use this way more than I thought I would, one of the best products I've purchased on Amazon. So glad I made this purchase - you will be as well.

Best egg beater ever. I had one just like it for many years and used it a lot, and it eventually cracked at a narrow spot in the plastic. I noticed that this new one has been re-designed so hopefully won't have the same problem. Very easy to use and clean. Highly recommended.

I've been using this beater for quite awhile now and it is very comfortable to hold, beat and the effectiveness at beating eggs is pretty good.
