Review: Love this book - This book is great for a 2nd grader who is being introduced to the concept of paragraph writing. While I allow my son to do many of his assignments alone, I work through this book with him to help coach him through the concept of building topic sentences and well thought out sequences. One of the things I like is that this book abstractly helps them take a topic sentence and build supportive facts while also conversely reading a list of facts that they must then build a topic sentence for. It also helps them identify sequence writing and also the concept of editing out facts that don't "fit" well with the group. I highly recommend this book for someone who wants to give their child a great foundation. Review: Good purchase - Very happy to buy this book , it’s very helpful for kids who.

Great for practicing basic writing
I got this to work with my 8 yr old son who loves math and reading but thinks writing is a chore. I've tried other writing aids and he seems to think the topics were boring. This one he's taken to much better. It has simple and clear instructions about structuring a paragraph, introduces to different types of paragraphs and has enough practice to get the concept. I'm not a teacher so I don't use the overhead transparancy and I wish I had more pages of drill rather than paying for clear plastic pages. But I'm happy with the quality and results. My son is less resistant to writing and he has a little more informed approach to writing a paragraph.

Excellet Workbook!
Excellet Workbook! My fourth grader still didn't understand the concepts of writing a pargraph. This book lays it out step by step and takes time with each topic so that the student really gets it with lots of practice on each topic. There's pages that you can copy onto transparencies and teaching instructions in the front of the book. Organizing thoughts on main idea, topic sentences, paragraph scentences, etc... We aren't all the way through it but he's really doing a lot better on being able to put paragraphs together.

Helpful Resource
In my opinion, Evan More workbooks are very helpful in supplementing your child's education. This particular book on how to write a paragraph, has proven to be very helpful in teaching my 3 grader how to organzie and write a paragraph. It teaches your child by steps, practice and implementation. It has served as a nice exercise book for writing instruction. There are better out there though, but this does get the job done.
