Malabrigo Yarn - Rios - Living Coral 896

I don't buy yarn online very often, but since I have been trying to stay in as much as possible, I did. This yarn is nice, but it is a bit thin for worsted weight, and I was hoping the color would be more vibrant with more variation since it is hand dyed. It's a dark red, not what I would have thought for "cherry." And while it is soft, it is definitely on the pricey side. I don't think I'll be using it for the project I had in mind, and now I'm not sure what to do with it. Guess I'll have to brave an actual store to get what I want.

the weight and texture of this yarn is very nice... it's a bit off from the color shown, but yarn and fabrics are tough for pics unless you have perfect lighting, etc... It's being used with some other yarns too (hand dyed , spun art yarns - needed some "bulk" with them ) , and it should blend in nicely... I'd most likely buy it again but I'd also like to be told ahead of time that I need to go and pick this up at my post office. I didn't get a notice from amazon, the seller or my post office that I needed to go and get it so it sat for 3 days... with USPS you never know what could happen, but I'm reading SH directions a LOT better now!

I have happily and successfully used Malabrigo yarns for years. This is my first time using Mechita (fingering weight ) and will avoid it like the plague in the future. While the yarn itself is beautiful, wrapping it was a nightmare. It was so internally tangled that even on my swift it took over an hour to wrap it. Thought maybe I just got a bad skein but both skeins were a mess.

Lovely yarn. Just lovely. However the four I received were such blatantly different colors that they couldn't be used as intended. Yes. I understand that these are small batch and kettle dyed and there’s no dye lots but..... one ball is pink, almost exclusively and the next was green. And not a good green. Alternating skeins wasn't the answer either since they aren't even the same color family!

If you knit, you know Rios. Worsted weight with 100% merino. I don't remember if it is machine washable but I never machine wash hand knitted clothing items. This yarn is soft and not scratchy so good for even scarves, cowls and hats. it is tightly plied so has beautiful stitch definition. I bought the color 869 Cumparsita which is a dark purplish red and has a cool undertone. The knitted fabric actually looks a lot darker than the photo shows (at least on my screen) which is what I wanted.

I purchased two skeins of the Malabrigo Rios Jupiter as a gift for my knit-obsessed sister’s birthday. USPS lost the package (not the seller’s fault!) and so I contacted Alpaca Direct to see if they could help. Not only were they quick to respond and incredibly kind, but they also let me choose a new color (I picked Malabrigo Rios Purpuras) to send as a replacement since the Jupiter color was out of stock. My sister got the replacement yarn today, and she is elated! The colors are vibrant and the yarn is soft. She can’t wait to make something awesome with it! Between their customer service and great yarn selection, I would absolutely buy from this seller again.

I am very pleased with the yarn I received. It was exactly what I was looking for to complete a project but had been unable to find in stores. I appreciate how it was wrapped in paper, rather than an additional plastic bag. I was surprised to find a sweet hand written note inside. Very personalized experience.

Well worth the coin. This is gorgeous and easy to knit with, and I love the way it's dyed. I love color, but in NYC, you don't go out looking like a crayon box - this is dark and subtle, so I can have my color and pretend I'm still wearing only black. Not lace weight - this is a decent worsted - so it knits pretty fast and makes a lovely fabric. I am not the best knitter, and I can't count well or follow complicated patterns, so a beautiful yarn is worth it to me because with only simple knitting, it is a joy to work with, and i feel I am making something worthwhile even with the simple stuff I can do. Enjoy it!

Lovely colour and comfortable to wear. Made a nice soft shawl. Excellent price.

It comes ALL TANGLED UP!!! UNUSABLE

Malabrigo Rios is my favourite knitting yarn and I have knitted many sweaters and ponchos I many different colour ways. This latest colour, Indiecita, is a blend of spring green, lavender and aqua and knitted up into a beautiful cable sweater.
