We bought this book for my son as a holiday present. He absolutely loved it. It is well-made with great thick paper. Wonderful present.

Book was damaged. Pages torn
Pages at the back of the book were torn on arrival. Corner of the hard cover was dented to the degree that it bent the majority of the pages. Beautiful book, terrible condition. Was supposed to be new.

NOT RECOMMENDED!!!
The workmanship of the binding is absolutely embarrassing. This is a very expensive book that I bought as a gift for someone. I saw him today and handed him the book, still shrinkwrapped. The interior pages are coming loose from the binding! Assouline should be ashamed for putting out such poorly made products. It's killing its own brand. No more Assouline books for me, and hopefully none for you either.

Title should be "Watches of Europe"
A nicely written and produced book that doesn't cover much new ground for most watch collectors, being better suited to novice collectors and the casual reader. However, the authors seem to still be resentful over the so-called Quartz Crisis and before that the drubbing that Seiko gave the Swiss in the observatory chronometer trials of the '60s. I can think of no other explanation for why this book all but completely ignores the multitude of contributions of the Asian manufacturers, particularly those of Grand Seiko, King Seiko, and Credor. Shame on you Hodinkee!
