Great bait caster, I have the original smoke 100 and love it so I upgraded to this one and the braking system works so much better then the original

backlashes easily
in my opinion an average reel, nothing special. you must thumb the reel to keep from backlashing

Quantum Smoke S3 baitcaster
I have eight Quantum reels that I have used for over 20 years. I have never had a moments worth of trouble from any of them. I have just received two Smoke S3 100 series baitcasters. They are everything that the ad says they are. I’m very happy about this purchase and like the smaller size. Fits my hand better. It runs smoothly and the settings are positive. I paired them up with two 6’6” new Ugly Stik Carbon. Great reel and great rod.

I like the reel but!!!
I was using this reel this past weekend and noticed that the handle was loose. When I got home, I went to tighten it up and notice that the threads where stripped. Which leads me to believe that i was sent a used reel. Not happy and I know it's too late to return. Sucks having something this expensive that can't be used.
