It's not about the sound
I am an audiophile. Ok snob. Need my Sony noise canceling headphones on me at all times. And yet I love these. Yeah, if you want booming bass and the clearest of sounds, this isn't for you. But nothing for $19.99 well get you that. I mainly buy these little guys as a collectible. Great way to show off my Marvel fandom on my desk without it feeling cluttered. Never bought them intending to use as a speaker. Pleasantly surprised how much I actually use my Bitty Boomers in my day to day. Haven't used the strap, I just throw them in my pocket when heading somewhere. Tip in case you've bought multiples: I have Bitty Hulk, Bitty Captain America, Bitty Thor etc so I saved them all in my phone by the different character names. This way if battery dies or I am grabbing one in a hurry I don't have to take time trying to figure out which Bitty Boomer to connect to.

The sound is very muffled and static-filled

Would not recommend.
After only a month-and-a-half when I turn the volume up on my phone or any other device I connect it to it cuts in and out, with a full charge on the battery.
