Just as described, they light up when you hit stuff, and fade fast to reset for next impact. Tips glow brighter, which looks cool. Seem well made, just wish they were usb rechargeable, but the batteries are cheap. Not super bright, but matches well with blacklight scenes.

I gave this to a friend of mine for his birthday. He's an experienced drummer that prefers to play the drums in the dark. This was definitely great for him. Immediately as soon as he opened the package, he tried them out and they work out of the box. There was just a little sticker to remove that separates the batteries with the contact. They level of glow is insane and the great thing is that they glow based on how hard you hit the drum, so if you hit it softly, the glow level goes according to that hit, same thing goes when they are hit hard. My friend has an acoustic drum set and he was scared that these drumsticks were going to break or something like that, but after giving it his hardest after 30 minutes of constant playing, they didn't even had a scratch on them. I've read how durable these drumsticks are, but this is a whole different level. Truly loved them!

I bought these for myself just to explore and play with, I do not play the drums. They are very cool looking and fun to play with if they would light up everytime that contact is made with the drumstick but only one of them is consistently lighting up with contact. Possible short in one of the sticks but I'm going to replace the batteries first.

I bought two pairs. One stick out of one pair doesn't work. They have a nice flash when playing,but they have a whole different feel and sound. You have to be careful when hitting the cymbals and high hats not to hit them on the edges becouse they will cut in to them.

Omgee! the RockStix's were for the drummer at my church. He loved the fact they lit up in purple color. It definitely brought a rock style to Sunday Morning Worship. The younger kids loved it. We might start a trend and have other churches wanting to purchase a pair. If I were you,I would purchase a pair in all colors. I plan to!!!!!

We bought the solid purple and the multi color stix. They are super cool. When our 18 year old daughter first asked for them we were skeptical about this type of product being of good quality. Would they break easily? How long will the lights work? When the sticks arrived they are a bigger size than she normally uses. We worried she would find them clunky to play with, but all of our concerns were for nothing. The material is solid and we there are replacement batteries. So far so good! She loves playing with the RockStix and they really do look fantastic on stage.

These were great at first (looked great), although one of them had to be hit harder for the light to come on. After a few hours of normal use by our drummer, one stick stopped working completely, even after replacing the batteries (which are very expensive and hard to find). Being an engineer, I opened it up to see the problem. Right away I noticed the tiny hair-thin wires used. I determined that the problem was the impact detecting component that appeared to be a cylinder with something suspended inside that would make contact with the outer edge on impact. When I bypassed this component, the led lit up. Apparently, this impact detector is too sensitive for the application or just of poor quality. Also, the batteries are VERY hard to replace. After you remove the bottom of the stick, the batteries stack into a hole exactly the diameter of the battery, making it almost impossible to get out the old ones. Tapping the stick against a hard surface for about 5-10 minutes worked, but most likely is not good for the delicate impact detector. I also wished that there was a simple "always on" functionality controllable with a switch.

This pair of lighted drumsticks was a birthday present that she wanted and is very happy with them. I can't say how long the batteries last but the brightness seems satisfying.
