Chill-Its 6710CT Cooling Dew Rag

It's not your typical doo rag, though the pictures make it appear so. It's basically bandanna folded in half with a cooling jell sheet sewn in. The jell sheet is triangular in shape and covers your forehead completely from temple to temple, then tapers back to a point at the back of your head. You tie it on a square knot to hold it securely once fitted. A good soaking is required to get it to conform to your head shape. Trying to fit it dry is not going to work well. The funny part is once you get it wet and fitting to your liking, it keeps that shape when it dries out. As in, it becomes hard like a helmet. lol To reactivate it, I soak it with the hose, and wad it up once it starts to soften. It takes a little time to get it to the right shape again, but the jell holds the moisture and cools your head for about 5 hours on 100+ degree days, so you don't have to go through it too often. Soaking your entire head, bandanna and all with the hose works too. Buy with confidence. These are well made, unlike the early versions. They aren't going to fall apart anytime soon, and even if they did, sewing it back together would be a snap. Hell, you could even take it apart and sew the jell pad into your own bandanna if they don't have a pattern you like.

Please note this is a DIFFERENT product than the Ergodyne Chill-Its 6710 Evaporative Cooling Triangle Hat, Solid Blue which is just a cloth. The 6710CT has a layer of PVA material inside that activates quickly when soaked in cold water for a minute or so. It stays cool and takes away the heat from your skin wherever it is placed. This makes all the difference. If you get really warm in the summer, your head retains all the heat without releasing any through sweating and you feel like your brain temperature is 100+degrees, give this a try. Many autoimmune and/or neurologic disease sufferers do not do well with heat. I use this in two ways a) as indicated on my head, PVA side tightly resting on my forehead NOT above my hairline. This way conduction helps cool the brain through the forehead and in 2-5min or so you feel like a different person. You can think more clearly, your are not as jittery, your entire body temperature seems to drop. Yes, you will look like a smurf but you will be able to function. Now what is more important? The second way I use it is by rolling it up, large PVA side facing out and I use it as a neck scarf. By the same mechanism it cools my neck and all nerves and blood passing through that area, helping bring my temperature down. I literally go nowhere without it in the summer, along with a travel size spray bottle filled with water to create some evaporation on skin areas not covered by clothing. Godsend!

Keeps my hubby cooler. He works in a steel foundry and it gets up to 120* in his area. Recommended for sure.

Cool idea but I wish the PVA material was lined thru out the whole head rag and not just a triable shaped for just the top of the rag. The sides and part you tie is not the cooling material and dries too quickly. We reverted back to the regular large PVA cooling towels as it covered more area and kept everything cool

I bought these and the cooling towels, and I wish I had bought all of them in this bandana style instead. Being able to wet these down, then wear on their heads, has been the absolute best application for this type of cooling product in an outdoor work environment. We have had 100 degree days, with heat indexes even higher, and I purchased these to try on our torch burners, who cut steel all day long. This is only one precaution of many we have in place as part of our heat stress reduction safety & health plan, but I do like these the best. They don't come off, they can be quickly rewetted and put back on, unlike the towels, which take more time to place under the necklines of the high viz shirts they must wear. I will buy more of these for our next season of hot weather and will probably not buy the towels. Hands down, all of the torch burners said having the ability to cool their heads down, worked the best. They like them and all of them got "sharpies" and put their names on them before they even used them. When you see construction workers claiming a safety item, you know its a winner!

I work outside quite often and sweat terribly due to health issues. I've had other dew rags and none have been as good as this one. It has a cooling towel sewn into the front and is a bit stiff after washing, but that's the nature of the material. I wear 1 all day and never get sweat into my eyes. I keep an extra handy and swap it out after 4 or 5 hours. I bought 1 for a friend because it works so well.

Tolle Erfindung! Erst ist es fest wie Pappe, dann hält man es unter den Wasserhahn und es wird zu einem weichen Stoff. Auf der Innenseite ist ein hellblaues Dreieck eingenäht, das für die Kühlfunktion sorgt. Das Bandana bleibt stundenlang kühl und feucht. Ich habe nach einer Kopfkühlung gesucht, weil ich Chemotherapie wegen Krebs bekomme und dadurch oft extreme Hitzewallungen bekomme, besonders am Kopf. Dieses Bandana sorgt sofort für Kühlung. Allerdings trage ich es immer nur kurz, denn ich mag es nicht, wenn mein Kopf ständig feucht ist. Das ist der einzige Nachteil an diesem ansonsten super Bandana: der Kopf ist zwar herrlich kühl, aber feucht. Der Kühlungseffekt wird ja über Verdunstungsfeuchtigkeit erzielt. Trotzdem: Ich bin begeistert und werde definitiv für dieses tolle Bandana unter den anderen Chemopatienten Werbung machen! Es kommt übrigens aus Amerika und ist kein minderwertiges Produkt.

This is essentially a head scarf with a sewn in triangle of absorbent spongy material. I initially thought the material was very stiff which would affect fit, but when wet it was no longer an issue. My first time wearing it, I did for about 6 hours while playing drums (a very physical, heat-generating activity). I stayed reasonably cool and comfortable throughout. If I needed to, I might have considered rewetting it after about 3 or 4 hours. I also like the look, so what was perhaps causing me some doubt out of the package, once used became an item I really like and will definitely use!

Es importante mencionar que el gel endurece una vez seco y por tanto obliga a que debe ser humedecida para hacerla maleable y poder colocar de forma correcta en la cabeza. Al momento del lavado es importante se haga a mano para evitar el rasgado de la bolsita (¿o placa podríamos llamarle? de gel absorbente y que se haga con agua simple, nada de cloro ni detergentes ya que pueden llegar a afectar el funcionamiento del gel.
