Good Old School Horror
Firstly, this is a no frills BD but the only version I could find of this film. Unfortunately the printed insert was damaged. Hey-Ho. Anyway, to the film... I remember watching this on TV when I was a kid and being impressed and wanted it in my collection for the sake of nostalgia. 40 years on it was plain to me that the film wouldn't have the effect it did originally; but I'm happy to say I enjoyed the trip down memory lane without it being spread over three nights on the old TV, and the superior viewing experience justified the purchase... there's a nice grain that I wasn't expecting and, after brief fiddling of my audio and picture settings, I've got no complaints. The presentation does still include the "freeze frames" that were in the original to split the film into three parts as mentioned... this slightly bugged me, but would be expected by the purists I guess lol. If you're a fan of 1970s and early '80s horror flicks (and are OK with a dialogue that was clearly sanitised for TV viewing), this one's a no-brainer.

A CLASSIC MOVIE ALL ROUND
This is one of my all time favourite Stephen King chillers. I especially like the special effeit's in the movie and the actors themselves are just right for their roles. I will watch all the films of Mr. King but then again I own quite a few of them anyway.

Too long on Blu-ray
The very successful horror story obviously was intended to be shown in two separate parts, with a short re-cap at the beginning of part two, as pesented on Warner's DVD. The Blu-ray just goes on and on, and frankly becomes a bit tiresome towards the end. Too bad also that the original helpful re-cap is missing.

besser als Neuverfilmung
Story viel besser als Neuverfilmung, gruselige Stimmung, Charaktere überzeugend, auf den Punkt umgesetzt von den Schauspielerinnen und Schauspielern, hat mich 1979 im TV schon fasziniert, waren 2 Teileunbedingt in englisch anhören
