I highly recommend it. There's fun diagrams
My microbiology professor relies on this book to teach his class, so if your professor relies on this textbook, I highly recommend it. There's fun diagrams, and I find it relatively easy to read. The down fall of this book is that there is A LOT of information, probably more than you would ever have to know about microbes, unless you're majoring in microbio.

Availability
I bought this book several years ago, and the 11 th edition is already listed on the publisher's web site. The 9th edition is listed as having 2272 pages but the FREE pdf of the 9th edition has 1139 pages. I hope that Amazon will carry the 11th edition loose leaf at the publisher's listed price at $130.66.
