I'm 6'-9" / 275 lbs.; would this fit me? How would this look on me? I have enough people staring at me as it is - would this look like I'm wearing a tic-tac on my back? Tim

Hi TIm- I'm 5'10, 175 lb and the Typhoon fits about right, although it has a small profile to being with. so I'd say it would probably be a bit small for you. Sometimes I don't use it as a backpack and just carry it by the handle, like a briefcase. If you were to use it this way, it would not matter that much. I just recently got the Condor 2, which is a bit larger, and just a great bag overall if you like to get in the woods. With your frame you could probably go for an even larger pack like the Vulture 2 and it will not look overly large. Maxpedition is a great product line though and you won't go wrong with any of their products. I guess it also depends on what you want to do with it and how much you want to carry. For example, EDC, get home bag, etc... Good luck with your decision.

Can the main compartment of the bag fit a 1 inch A4 sized folder? Thank you.

I carry an A4 folder, a zipper binder by Leatherology, in my Typhoon. The folder measures 11-1/8" x 13-1/4" x 1". It just BARELY fits in the bag, so if your folder is any larger, I wouldn't consider this pack. That said, it's the perfect size for me. Holds my folder and two laptops and my Kindle, and other small miscellany. It also fits in my motorcycle's tail bag, and it's durable as all get out.

Is the main compartment of the Maxpedition Typhoon padded on the bottom (i.e.: for carrying a laptop)? Thanks!

There very limited padding at the bottom of the bag. While you can always add padding or use a laptop pouch, the bag is too small even to carry an Ultrabook. I have an ThinkPad Ultrabook and barely fits. If it was an inch or two longer, it would be the perfect bag.
