Great product, if not a little pricey for what it is
I've heard about Ring products before, and seen the doorbell in action before but never thought that I would actually get one. Well, I wish I hadn't waited so long! I've got the Doorbell 3 Plus and was impressed right away with how it was packaged, and how easy it was to figure out what I needed to do to install it. I opted for a completely wireless installation, but you can rig it up to an existing hard wire if you have a doorbell already in place. Was simple to install, and downloading the app was easy to continue the setup of the actual bell itself. Quick scan of the QR code and the setup is basically done for you. It comes with all of the fittings you need, including parts that can allow you to mount it on a slope depending on where your front door faces. You charge the battery via micro usb and then slot it in once you screw the base plates to the wall. Once up and running it is so easy to use. it detects motion, and sends notifications to your phone, which then shows you a live view from the camera, but also a quick recording of the few seconds leading up to the detection which is cool. The app is super intuitive, the quality of the camera is awesome and I can integrate it with Alexa who will tell me when someone is at the front door. Pretty cool! And it can be linked with all the other Ring products too so really slick. Considering getting a security camera for the back of the house as well. Oh and battery life is epic! Final point - They are expensive - £200 for this is a lot. It does just work though, and it works well so you get great quality for your money. Just not cheap compared to others. Also despite setting the sensitivity quite low, it still alerts me when the hedge at the end of my path moves a little in the wind. Which is annoying.

Does what it says on the box!
Superb product, this is my first camera doorbell and it hasn’t disappointed. I have an existing push button hard wired doorbell, but the mechanical chime was not compatible. I replaced the chime at the same time to the Byron 776 model. This model is 8v output, but this is fine as the doorbell uses the battery to run the doorbell, however uses the standard 8v transformer to “trickle” charge the battery. Thereby never having to manually charge!!! No need for those higher voltage transformers required for these type of bells. Having charged the battery overnight with the usb cable, It was easy to install as simply removing existing push doorbell, drill new holes, connect existing wires, screw ring doorbell to wall. The chime works fine, so no need to purchase the ring chimes unless you wanted it for another room in the house. For us, the “ding dong” From the chime is loud enough. Added to that if you have any echo dots, they will announce one of two things. 1. Motion detection, 2. Doorbell pressed. I also have the Echo Show which not only announces like the dots, but also automatically displays the camera view upon someone pressing the door bell. Additional to that there is also 2 Ring apps. One has the full configuration and live viewing capabilities the other is the Rapid Ring app which is fast loading video of the camera view. Pre roll is really good as it stores the image just prior to the doorbell being pressed albeit in B&W. The quality during the day or night is clear and vivid. You can configure the motion zones so you don’t pickup any footpath or road traffic.

Hopefully this will help you decide...
This review is for the Ring door bell 3 plus. The product arrived well packaged and on time. When this product was released I was pleased that a new battery powered version was available. I currently have a Ring doorbell 1(battery version) and also a ring doorbell pro(wired) Upon opening the box you will see a number of items in the box.. you get the doorbell, battery, toolkit for installation, usb charging wire (no 3 ping plug), 2 mounts (wedge mounts.. see image), instructions, screws and plugs, replacement dark brown front cover. (Not grey) The first thing your need to do is install the battery and charge it. Installing the battery is simple, the front half of the bell comes off and the battery slides in from the bottom. I left it overnight and was fully charged by the morning. The installation was very simple, once charged I used the right angle wedge mount and put it up against the wall and used a pencil to do the marking. Then with a drill (drill bit provided) I did the wholes and put the plugs in and fitted it. The next step is to follow the simple instructions that guide you through setup and connecting to WiFi.. all very easy to follow. The positives: The bell has good quality image 1080p, it is very clear and sharp. The response time is Good, from pressing the bell to it ringing is a few seconds. There is another app called Ring rapid, which speeds the response time up even more. It to is developed by Ring themselves - worth a download. The features are good and it is very useful when someone is at the front door to see who it is. Connects very quickly to Echo Show 8 and works well.. all you have to say is ‘Alexa, show me the front door.’ The battery life should be good.. hopefully better than the original which didn’t last very long at all if you have high traffic. The not so good.. Compared to the original ring doorbell (currently available and priced at £89) this new doorbell is approx 3-4mm thicker (see image). The build quality I don’t think is as good as the original. The silver cover is plastic and on the old one it was metal. The design I think was better on the original one and also the ring pro. This item has had minimal design changes and to be honest looks like the original that was released 4-5years ago just bigger! I would have expected a nice updated design and in line with 2020! Maybe similar to the pro. The features of the ring app are very good and getting better now that Amazon owns Ring. It also connects well to the ring security system and camera’s. In comparison to the Ring pro I personally prefer the pro, after having had the battery powered original one for 2 years I found it a pain having to recharge it every x weeks/months. The Pro is a bit more expensive and requires wiring BUT once done you just forget about it and good and it just works! the original and this item can also both be hard wired but if you are buying to wire it go for the pro! The image on the pro and this item seems the same (1080p) but you can notice a big difference between this and the original (see images) Overall if you need a battery operated doorbell you have 2 choices, this item at either £179 or £199 with pre roll(not that great feature) or the original at £89. The image is better on this one but it’s a door bell, the original is good enough and for the price difference I would go for the original and spend on getting spare battery. For a wired doorbell I would go for the pro, lot nicer design and looks slick. Great image quality and the best wired Ring doorbell going. Update after 3 days use.. still working well. WiFi connectivity is good and way better than original version. It is a lot more reliable compared to v1. Battery still going strong. A week later.. working very well still, I’m seeing a number of 1* reviews which I’m not sure is a fair rating. The product for me works very well and the Ring customer service is excellent when needed. I personally would suggest you try the product for yourself and decide. So looks like ring are bringing out a new version priced at £89.. being released in few weeks (early June 2020).. you may want to hang on and see what that brings!! It is available on pre-order currently. Update: the £89 device has been released and is fantastic value for money. I personally would get that one! You miss out on certain features like colour swappable front panels but in terms of image quality and functionality it’s pretty much all the same and £110 less!! Update: Ring have also released the £89 one in two colours bronze and sliver. Take your pick great value!! Also spend the extra £10 and get the bundle with the chime.. you defo need a chime for the house otherwise you are relying on your phone to alert you that someone is at the door.
