Really nice little machine
You have to use the hard dimple balls. With this machine. My only issue it takes a while for it to hit the full rpm again after a ball is used

Best machine for its price
First off be sure to purchase this from 1SportingGoodsOnline. They manufacture the machine and their customer service is the best I have encountered in on-line sales. J.C. was very helpful and answered many of my questions promptly. This is a solid machine I have been using it for the past week, everything has been working great. I use it and have my three kids use it also. I also have the 24 ft batting cage and the two products work seamlessly together. I have the Atec Hitting streak (I coach H.S. baseball) and decided to purchase the Slider for the automatic feeder so I wouldn't have to feed the ball every time. In comparing the Atec with the Slider they are essentially identical in regards to variable velocity control and breaking balls. The auto feeder works as advertised; an adjustment I made though was to put the feeder on the back part of the machine (there is a hole for it and is designed for the feeder), I did this so the hitter is able to see the ball drop into the machine. To adjust the height on the Slider you use adjust the back leg height; it takes just a second to do, if you want a finer height setting adjust the velocity. The Slider is a plastic machine and is a bit louder than the metal Atec machine that I have; that's why I feel more comfortable in throwing the Atec machine in my trunk and bringing it on the road with me to practices and games. The Slider is the best machine at it's price point (compare to $1,000 for the new Atec Hitting Streak). I put up a cage, purchased 12 softee balls, and this machine all for under $400. UPDATE UPDATE 9/22 It’s been 6 years and I still have the original machine ( we are on our 3rd net). The machine is still in functioning order ( albeit a little tired). What have I discovered in the past years. The net takes about 45-60 minutes to set up. I found that if you tape the tip off the poles (I used electrical tape) it makes it the entire frame sturdier and hard hit balls won’t separate the posts. Also be sure to use the softee white balls and not the heavier yellow one. Yellow ones destroy the net and any hard hit ball up the middle will break the machine eventually. I still highly recommend this setup. This has been in heavy use every summer (3 boys plus myself) since being purchased. Will be buying a new machine and net next year, pretty good machine!

Didn’t last 6 months with limited use
My eight-year-old received this for Christmas. Between Christmas and June he probably used it less than 10 times. He only used the balls at the machine recommends. The motor totally burnt out. I can’t imagine that this is normal after less than 10 uses. During the times when the machine worked, I would rate it 3 stars. Many others have said, once a ball was shot out, you would have to wait for it to get back up to the level in order to shoot another one around the same distance and speed. Also, the feeder didn’t work for the balls that the machine recommended. They were too big and wouldn’t go through. Very disappointed in the price that this machine was, to the quality we got.

A lot of fun
When used with the heater white balls this is a great buy! The other balls are junk, either too light and float like a wiffel ball, or too foamy and no good for hitting. The accuracy is awsome, but 1 must is adding a 25lb weight or sandbag to the base of the tripod. Do this and it is a solid machine. Use it for batting cage, fly ball practice, and just pitching on the diamond with a group of kids. Also recommend use with a ryobi 40v, 300w inverter and 40v battery. You can take it anywhere and it will run for 90min on 1 ryobi 40v 6ah battery.

Really nice little machine
Just assembled and fired up this machine for the first time and am very, very pleased. I have not found the issues of inconsistent location to be a problem thus far. Granted its the first time of the first day. From what I can tell, the issue might be caused by feeding the balls too fast. This machine is powered by one enclosed wheel and its not large. But that's a good thing over all. It folds up and will store nicely. On the "negative" side, the wheel slows down a bit after a pitch and needs a few seconds to get up to speed again when it will throw a nice pitch like the one before. This is where the ball feeder comes in nicely. The way the feeder works is it uses the vibration of the power in the machine to shimmy the ball down. The time it takes to do this just so happens to coincide with the time it takes the wheel to get back up to speed. So it really is a good idea to get both. If not, you just have to wait about 5 seconds between pitches. Now, no, this is not a machine with the two yellow wheels we used in high school. Those cost over $1,000 and you would need something like that if you had 15 kids taking swings and a time limit. But if its just you and a few kids, you really can be confident picking this one up in my opinion. See videos below of it in action.

Purchased for my 12 year old son. Read the instructions. Once I corrected my errors (unit was upside down by instructions) We tested the unit, but the extension cord was too long, so the unit did not pitch correctly (States in instructions -size of cord - mine was too long). New extension cord - dry temperatures and the unit pitched perfectly. It holds 12 lite balls. We also pitched a batting cage. Together it works nicely.
