Coravin Model Five Preservation and Tasting System - Model V

The packaging says a bottle of wine will be fresh for weeks, we can only verify that it is good for 3 days as that is about as long as a bottle of wine can expect to survive at my house. My wife says the third day is as good as the first. The instructions say to lay the bottle on its side after you remove the system and our experience is that works best. The only drawback is that even with the preferred natural cork we get some seepage that requires a paper towel under the neck of the bottle. We did manage to break a needle but that was due to operator error. The gas cartridges are a little pricey at $52 for 6.... This will get you to around $0.35 per bottle for the gas. The other slight inconvenience is that it will take you 4 times as long to pour a glass of wine. If you plan on finishing a bottle once opened just pull the cork. I would buy this again.

This will easily pay for itself over time. No wasted wine or “over drinking” so you don’t waste a good bottle. Easy to use - pour a glass then store for future use.

I purchased a coravin to mostly take individual glasses out of bottles (I rarely have more than a single glass and generally not every night so an entire bottle is challenging to get through quickly) but also to try my nicer bottles to see where they're at in their age. I've been using it for a few months now and have probably opened 15 bottles with it. For the most part I've been happy, however I've found that quite a few of my bottles seep through the needle hole, some so significant that I've lost nearly a quarter bottle or more over time. I simply can't trust it now with any bottle of signficant value. The only way I can see it being OK is if I stored the bottle partially upright, but then you're not really allowing the wine to touch the cork and age correctly, and if wine is seeping through the cork I'm sure the argon will over time. Perhaps I'm somehow overpressurizing the bottle, but I don't see how that is physically possible the way it is designed. Anyways, use this at your risk. Would not pierce cork then completely bent in half

I have owned a Coravin Model 1 for a few years, and really enjoy it. The only issue was the slow pour. I attempted to "upgrade" to the Model 5, but have been very disappointed. I was able to get 5 or 6 bottles out of a argon capsule previously. Now, it's more like 1.5 bottles. I'm returning the product. This is a big step backward for Coravin. It shouldn't be sold as an improvement.

At first really liked the product. But then it kept clogging and eventually stopped working. I have tried multiple times for support help but no response. Very dissatisfied.

Tenia duda si la inversión vale la pena para uso en casa. Lo es! En casa no todos siempre quieren vino, o el mismo tipo, así que a veces me tengo que acabar la botella o abrir más de una. Otras veces quiero probar un muy buen vino, pero no acabarme la botella. Es super fácil de usar y en un par de minutos tienes la copa servida sin tema. La botella se mantiene perfectamente cerrada y sin goteo, así que me quedo tranquilo qué sé mantendrá de forma razonable por un buen tiempo. Esperaba que el modelo 5 fuera más metálico, sin embargo es de plástico completamente pero se siente sólido y de buena calidad.
