Product Description Peace is the most compelling collection yet of Anders’ soul-scorching music, where infectious roots pop gives way to blistering rockers, with time still for a hushed confessional and a playful reggae workout. Key tracks include radio-ready songs like “47” and “Windows,” the relentlessly rocking “5 Bullets,” and the title track, a high-intensity ballad on par with Neil Young’s finest work. "Peace ties together the guitar virtuoso, the poetic songwriter, and the struggling human being. He accomplishes it all without preaching. Hypnotic and textured. Peace is a multi-dimensional portrait of Osborne as man and musician." --Allmusic.com Review Fiery anthems and tumultuous confessional songs punctuated with glorious, raw guitar. --USA TodayDeep blues guitar, rugged, soulful singing, superb hard-hitting songs from scorched-earth, funky hard rock to sweet and tender ballads. A phenomenal blend of reflective self-awareness, and rambunctious spirit and muscle. --RelixRich and glorious...Osborne wields a guitar with the precision of a surgeon and the ardor of a lover. Possessing a voice that rises out of the darkness to the light of a soulful, tremulous wail, he is a consummate shaman, bending successive moments to suit his majestic purposes. Osborne seeks an epic quality to much of his music, crafting layer upon layer of hugely scaled soundscapes. Never lazily derivative, every slashing guitar figure, every cry of a lyric, seems to come from an authentic place. --New Orleans Times-PicayuneOsborne's palette ranges from bold and beautiful to demonically overdriven. He's an intense roots rock player and he s especially wicked when he whips out a slide. His greatest attribute is his ability to conjure intimate feelings from the darkest depths and the highest heights of his soul and share them through song via guitar and vocals. --Guitar PlayerMind-bogglingly great, Anders Osborne can play the gutbucket bluesman and hot guitar slinger' and he can play the sensitive, soulful singer/songwriter, and he's excellent at both. The guy is a triple threat as a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist. Soulful, wildly diverse, thoughtful and raw. --PasteOsborne's palette ranges from bold and beautiful to demonically overdriven. I don't think he's ever put out a set that it so consistently strong; and he's put out some excellent discs. This is a rock album, predominantly electric. The title track opens with a blast of electronic feedback before opening on one of Anders' best songs ever as a disquieted mind seeks peace, "Sometimes death comes like a blessing; and sometimes big dreams can kill a man." The very decent "47" passes by before the sets rips open with "Let It Go." It blasts out with its throbbing rhythm and stinging guitar, apparently from the depths of drug abuse, "You once had dreams that were young & soft; You used to have a home where your mama was; You used to be loved by the prettiest girl; A long time ago you were part of this world." "Windows" pounds out mechanically and has a hypnotic build until a jazz sax intrudes on the mix and then the electric guitar is unleashed with fury. Breathtaking track! "Five Bullets" lashes out with an electric riff that swirls around this tale of violence, "Boom, boom, boom, that American sound, teenage kids on the naked ground." After the nice song "Sentimental Times," Anders slows the pace a bit on the bouncy "Dream Girl" that is catchy and addictive. Anders celebrates his love for his wife on the reggae-influenced "Sarah Anne." Nothing quite prepares us for the incredible "I'm Ready" that blasts like a delightful renegade from the band Traffic about a spiritual redemption, "I found a way to move on, I gotta say I still got days when it's hard, I made the change in my heart." The set concludes with the lovely "My Son." Anders has way outdone himself this time out. It's stunningly raw, capturing the rugged emotional highs and lows of modern life with his searing guitar. Bravo! Review: Just excellent.. - Anders has been flying under the mainstream for years, as do most of the great blues artists, as it's not a genre fit for consumption by the masses..Caught the tune "Windows" on Sirius XM and was immediately hooked..Purchased the c.d. & played and the first 5 tracks are home runs and even the "lesser" tunes are keepers with only one that I would cull from this outstanding effort..Have seen him 3 times and making the trek to Mountain Jam to catch him again..A great take on white boy blues, catchy tunes & soulful howling wrapped in great guitar..What more couldja want??

CD of the year two years in a row
First, a disclaimer. I'm a big fan of Anders Osborne going back to 1994's Break the Chain. His music has ranged from Little Feat styled jangly rock and roll to New Orleans influenced gumbo. His last three have moved him more into a harder rock/blues style. Last year's Black Eye Galaxy was my pick for CD of the year with 'Mind of a Junkie' being my song of the year. You don't hear much fade into a song anymore like early Traffic was so good at but this song nails it. That CD, like this one had no filler. Every song revealed sonic and lyrical revelations that just stuck in your head. This one is, in my estimation even better. I hear 70's influences all over it. 'Peace' starts out with a Neil Young inspired feedback intro and transforms into a plea for just one day of peace. We all can relate to that at times in our lives. Anders seems to be channeling his inner Prince on '47' with it's jangly strumming and his falsetto sounding remarkably like Prince's 'KIss'. 'Windows' has a jangly guitar riff that keeps building tension and the atmospherics employed in the song sound like it could have come off a Lindsey Buckingham inspired Fleetwood Mac late 70's album. When I first heard 'Dream Girl', I immediately thought how it would fit nicely onto Spirit's Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus. 'Five Bullets', sadly, could be an anthem for today's times with all the school shootings that dominate the headlines. Anders music is melodic, revelatory and he is a master at painting aural landscapes. Since signing with Alligator Records, his music has become muscular and heavy with blues rock influence. If you like Savoy Brown type driving blues , you will love Anders. But don't make the mistake of pigeonholing his music into one particular style. A few years back I ordered his current CD from my local record store. The young 20 something clerk asked what kind of music did he play. I really had no clear answer for her. So, I unwrapped the disc, had her play a couple of songs and enjoyed watching the smile grow on her face. She had no experience with this type of sound but clearly liked it. Anders music has survived both his divorce from Theresa Andersen and the trauma of Katrina. He has come out the other side of those life changing events an incredibly gifted and talented music maker. We should all be happy for that. I have appx. 5,500 cd's in my collection and I am constantly finding stuff I want to add to my library. You won't be disappointed if you like the influences I mentioned above. Buy this CD.

I had to take my time with this one. Coming Down and American Patchwork hooked me from the start but like Black Star Galaxy you settle into this album like a relationship. It's very eclectic and not immediately catchy but begins to feel very mature and comfortable. His latest plea against street violence, Five Bullets, doesn't get away from him. My Son and Dream Girl are uplifting as well as upbeat. And while the title track kicks it all off as a great rock guitar album, it's I'm Ready that I keep replaying the most.

An awesome product!
I had heard of Anders Osborne; but, procrastinated on checking him out...My loss! This dude is the deal. I have been playing this cd in may office & on my iPod since I got it again & again. Immediately went looking for more of his work. Handles the guitar with authority & has a solid voice. Next time he is nearby playing live I will be there. You like the blues? Then you got to have this dude's music in your collection. & this cd would be a great start!

100% recomendable.
