There is no one like Quinten Blake
There is no one like Quinten Blake. His simplistic line with such fun and action attached and the heart warming loose coloring can't help to make you smile, you almost now the the whole story just looking at his marvelous artwork. Wish I owned all his work. Maybe my next purchase will be his latest treasury book.

Great Book
My son and I love this book. It is silly and very sweet. It's written for kids (obviously) but it is entertaining for adults.

Kids will like this book
Mrs. Armitage is one no-nonsense lady. She's up for trying new things. When her Uncle Cosmo gives her his car, she and her dog, Breakspear, take it for a spin. Things start falling off the car while they're driving---sometimes due to accidents, sometimes due to her driving---until the car is just a shell of a machine. Then Mrs. Armitage runs into Uncle Cosmo and his motorcycle club and they think her "lean machine" is the best ever. As an adult, I thought the storyline was fine until the motorcycle club shows up. I thought that was a little strange, especially the one biker woman with a cleavage-baring top and skin-tight clothing. However, my kids thought the book was hilarious and really liked how the car parts kept falling off and the way the car looked at the end. I did like how Mrs. Armitage is resourceful, goes with the flow, and is rewarded with becoming "Queen of the Road."

no matter what happens, "it's all good"
Uncle Cosmo gave Mrs. Armitage his car. And no matter what damage happens to this car, she does not get upset. Hubcaps fall off, fenders fall off, roof gets smashed, etc. But what I remember about this book - is the biker woman friend with the big boobs and low cut top. Young children probably won't notice, but adults will. We liked this book, but the skeleton of a vehicle is kinda scary - no doors, roof, frame, or seatbelt. Nothing but a floor, wheels, seat, steering wheel, engine, and horn. If you are into custom motorcycles, you will like this book.

A winner in our house
Whenever one of my 3 yr olds toys break we refer to mrs. Armitage. "Who needs it?". It is a quick, easy, fun and refreshing read. Pictures are great. My son likes it a lot.

A Splendid Thing
Today, right after completing practising her scales, my three-year-old, Melisande settled down to some light reading.'You know,' she said, after a little while, 'if Quentin Blake is Picasso, then Eric Hill is Magritte.'(Melisande prefers MOMA to the zoo.)I just thought that I ought to share this as an encouragement to other mothers.

Delightful!
I was at a musuem exhibit for quentin blake in 2004 (he does the illustrations for roald dahl's books) and i was surprised to see that he is also a children's book author. I picked up this book and found it so enjoyable that we later bought a few others. When my child was struggling with reading (she's dylexic), she found so much enjoyment reading about crazy mrs. armitage. The story and illustrations are simply delightful! Highly recommend!

Fell in love with the character of Mrs Armitage at an exhibition ...
Fell in love with the character of Mrs Armitage at an exhibition on the works of Quentin Blake. I love the drawings but the repetitive nature of the book and the book and the eccentricity of Mrs Armitage makes this a perfect book for both adult and child to enjoy together.
