great peeler
I've been looking to replace an aging vegetable peeler that I've had for 10-15 years. The steel blades were showing its age and was beginning to rust. I really prefer vertical peelers and I 'think' they are less prone to accidents, at least for me.I've recently tried options from brands I like (eg. OXO), but was disappointed in their performance (weak and shallow peeling). After purchasing ceramic knives from Kyocera over the past year, I decided to give this peeler a try and I'm glad I did. It has a good strong peel, deep enough with a very solid feel. It there is just one small improvement they could make, it would be to make the blade just a bit longer, as it feels just a little small, but definitely usable for all needs.

Sharp and safe
This is the best peeler I have ever owned. It stays sharp which means it does not slip. The ergonomic handle is comfortable.

Bought for left hander, not easy to use
I bought this for my daughter who is left handed and can't use our standard peeler from the store. She was struggling with it, so I gave it a try you have to put too much pressure to make it work, and sometimes it isn't easy to use. I gave 3 stars because it technically works, just not well enough so I am now looking for another option for her.

Not all that sharp
My first ceramic peeler was a "Y" type peeler and it was a cheapo Yoshi I picked up at the dollar store. I loved that thing. It was wicked sharp dangerous, had no sheath and no hook to hang it. Somehow, I managed to lose it. Whether it was in the move or after - I lean toward after I think I lost it because I probably wrapped in so much protective covering it got thrown out.So, I went looking for another ceramic peeler. I picked up a very nice set of ceramic knives which came with a Y peeler but that peeler was a huge disappointment. Very jerky, stiff kind of swivel. Then I went searching for a different type and I went with Kyocera because they seem to be a premium brand of ceramic.I am pretty shocked at how not sharp this thing is. I haven't tried to peel my finger to prove it but, this doesn't seem sharp. You have to really work a potato or cucumber. I know it is a different style from a Y peeler. It really seems DULL. Like duller than my traditional Oxo vertical peeler which is the same style. I wouldn't bother using this over the Oxo one.Have to say the eye remover is nice if you are doing potatoes it works good and it feels pretty good in your hand. But I cannot get past that it does not seem like a sharp ceramic edge and I was expecting better from a premium ceramic mfr.

Unbeatable
Best peeler ever. Never gets dull, cuts thin or thicker. Got all my friends using them. Obviously, highly recommend. Had been searching for the perfect peeler for years and now I have it. Don't get the slingshot-shaped one you pull toward you; no comparison. Update: Still works great after about ten years but showing some wear. Can't figure out why they don't just sell the black one by itself, I don't need a knife and it's a dopey idea pairing them. Am going to try the double edge one but want the good old black one.

Not very good
I own an old worn out Kyocera peeler. It was infinitely better than this peeler. It's head rotated so you could peel in any direction. Its handle was much more comfortable to use. The handle on this one hurts my hand. The old peeler was so easy to use and peeling with it took a trivial amount of force to produce a regular peel. The new peeler requires more force and produces a jagged peel. Some times the peel is what you want and this peeler would be useless to produce a strip of lemon zest. Why can't you sell the old design?
