Lottie Lipton is an “investigator extraordinaire” young puzzlers and mystery buffs will love!
There was a heck of a racket going on in Sir Trevelyn’s office. Sir Trevelyn, the Head Curator of the British Museum, was none too fond of nine-year-old Lottie Lipton and her Uncle Bert. He didn’t much care for that “useless caretaker,” Reg, either. Lottie was off to investigate what was going on and soon overheard Sir Trevelyn’s phone conversation. “I can’t get a donation that large!” he declared to Lord Hart, the chair of the museum’s board of directors. “Especially by tonight!” My goodness! If Trevelyn couldn’t get the money that meant only one thing ... the museum would have to close!Of course that also meant that Lottie, Uncle Bert, and Reg would have to find a new home because they lived there. No doubt about it, Lottie was just going to have to figure out how to help out that old curmudgeon, like him or no. An unusual opportunity soon presented itself when Uncle Bert, the Curator of Egyptology, lost a rare coin in between the floor boards. Trusty Reg was on the job prying them up with a crowbar when Lottie noticed something most unusual. A secret message came to light when those boards came up.Once Lottie did a bit of thinking, she was able to decipher the message. “Delve deep to find the hoard,” it said. Hmmmm! What kind of hoard could the message be talking about? Uncle Bert knew almost instantly that they were going to be looking for the “hoard of Boudica.” He explained that Boudica was the Queen of the Icenci” and that gold had been “looted from the Romans.” The trio went down into the tunnels below and appeared to “step back in time” when catastrophe struck. Would they find themselves buried beneath the ground or would they live to save the British Museum?Lottie Lipton is an “investigator extraordinaire” young puzzlers and mystery buffs will love!
