Not perfect, but nearly so.
Great vocals. And some amazing songs. Beautiful and haunting at times, Halie is definitely one to be watching and listening to.

Several corrupted tracks detract from a really good album.
I am a big fan of Halie and I really like this release. The problem that made me down-rate it was Amazon. The digital copy they have for download has two corrupted tracks and that really ruins two of the songs. After The Fall and Peace both have random bursts of noise embedded in the tracks. The rest of the release is fine. When I noticed the corruption, I immediately downloaded the two bad tracks again from my Music Library, but they were still bad. Just for grins, I checked the samples on the Amazon web site. The corruption was present there as well, so whatever master copy they have must be bad.I reported this to Amazon support, but don't know if the guy I talked to will do anything. The tech level of of basic support is pretty low and even though I listed what I had done to troubleshoot the problem, I don't know if it will get passed on to someone who can correct it.My advice is before you buy the album, check the samples on the site for tracks Peace and After The Fall. If they are corrupted, your download will be too. If they are fine, that probably means the problem has been corrected. I say probably because I don't know if the samples are derived from the master download copy or just short exerpts maintained separately. Obviously, at this point they are both bad.I'll update my review when this is fixed.Update 6/10/15 1:00 PMI checked last night and just now and the sample tracks are still bad. Assuming that downloads will be as well. White Moon Productions contacted me and they are aware of the problem and working with Amazon to fix it. It's a shame this happened to a couple of the best tracks on the album. I'll keep checking and update the review when it's fixed. You might want to go to Halie's site to get the album if you are in a hurry. I'm sure it's available other places too.Update 6/12 10:30 PMI checked the samples on the site and the corrupted tracks were clean. Am assuming they fixed the downloads as well. Am changing my review to 4 stars. I'd give it a 5 for Halie and her band, but the fact that I couldn't download a clean copy from Amazon for 4 days gets a -1. Somebody should have caught this before it went live on the site.

Halie Loren's honeyed voice blends new with jazz standards in her fabulous new album
Halie Loren’s Butterfly Blue strikes a perfect balance of classic and original jazz songs. The new blends with the old and the old is made new in Ms. Loren’s renditions of them. Much of the original work is Ms. Loren’s own, including “Yellow Bird”, “Butterfly”, and “Danger in Loving You” (joined by Larry Wayne Clark). Daniel Gallo, playing guitar on the album) contributed a couple as well in “Blue” and “After the Fall.”The band is an integral part of this album and include: Piano & Organ: Matt Treder, Guitars: William Seiji Marsh & Daniel Gallo, Bass: Mark Schneider, Drums: Brian West, Horns: David Larsen (saxophones, clarinet), Joe Freuen (trombone), Dana Heitman (trumpet), Rob Birdwell (trumpet, flugelhorn) and Cello: Katherine Dudney. I don’t normally list out the band members in a vocal review, but this would be a very different album without the level of play these folks provide. It’s tight, focused and always supportive of the vocals. For full review: http://fdrmx.com/halie-loren-butterfly-blue-track-by-track-album-review/
