What is parsing anyway
I am a student of the Bible. I considered myself a "New Testament Man" until I found that there is nothing new in the New Testament. I then found that the gospels were written in Hebrew. Greek was out and Hebrew was in. Then I realized that modern Hebrew is not the Hebrew of the Bible. Then I found that there are a considerable number of words that are mistranslated. How do I find the true meaning of these biblical words. So I started studying Biblical Hebrew. Biblical Hebrew is a language of verbs. To understand the verbs you must be able to "conjugate" or in the terms of Biblical Hebrew PARSE the verbs. Old testament Parsing Guide is a necessary tool for studying Biblical Hebrew. It has every verb of the Tanakh (Old Testament) listed and parsed. If you are in need of determining the tense, gender, number, voice, definition, even the page you can find the definition in Brown Drivers and Biggs of Hebrew verbs, this is your book. This is great study aid for the beginner as well as the expert (my Hebrew Teacher in Jerusalem, Israel is the one who recommended the guide to me).

From a teachers perspective this edition is most useful to the student and master alike
From a teachers perspective this edition is most useful to the student and master alike. For the freshman a competent understanding of Hebrew verb states is a must for this volume to work for you. This understanding should be beyond mere grammar where an understanding of the working and lexical form of Hebrew verbs is better served i.e. the sense of the verb state. Don’t let this put you off however, Pratico and Van Pelts Hebrew Basics would most certainly compliment this volume for freshmen and preachers. For masters a quick verse by verse reference of Hebrew verbs. Quicker than a lexicon.

Worst book binding ever encountered
This is a fine reference for Hebrew Bible verb parsing, but the book binding is absolutely terrible. The book does not stay open and the pages fall off when one tries to keep it stay open. A new and better binding edition (possibly hard cover) is sorely needed because this book should serve as a lifelong companion to the Hebrew Bible for non-scholars to read the Old Testament in the original language. Rating of the book is the average of 5 (for the content) plus 1 (for binding) divided by 2 equaling 3 stars.Jan 18, 2010Addition to my previous comment.Be aware, Buyers! I have contacted the publisher about the poor quality biding problem, and they don't care about the concern. You may be spending more money than bargained for, because of the problem, if you want to keep using the book - I did!

Wonderful as a resource
This parsing guide contains every Hebrew verb in the Old Testament. It identifies the conjugation of each verb and is listed according to book, chapter and verse (ordering is from the King James Version). I would recommend this guide as a complimentary resource to your own studies, especially if you are just learning the Hebrew language. It is easy to use it as a crutch and rely upon it too much, particularly before doing your own work in parsing the verbs in the Hebrew Bible. Therefore, I would suggest using this guide as a way of checking and double-checking your work. I used this resource often in my Hebrew exegesis class, and have since used it every time I preach from the Old Testament.

Yes please!
A student of Hebrew? Studying parsings? Reviewing parsings? Need to translate that passage quickly and are hung up on that one verb? This is the resource for you. It is well organized, has BDB reference numbers, and easy to read parsings for every very in the Hebrew Bible. This is a great shelf reference for those of us who haven't invested in expensive Bible software yet.

Recommended
If you want to read the standard Hebrew Old Testament text this book is a greatasset for identification of every verb's conjugation in the Old Testament. If, like me,you're a new to biblical Hebrew, this book identifies verbs in sequence, by versenumber beginning with Genesis 1 and going through the entire Old Testament.Very helpful as a starting point for further study.

worth owning.
It seems very good and I am sure it will be more hepful as I progress with studies. As a very senior citizen I am still only an "advanced-beginner student."

Does everything it says.
It is exactly what it says. Every verb of every verse of the Hebrew Bible parsed in order. Very, very useful for translating Biblical Hebrew.

Useful but poorly bound and not always correct
Great way to speed up your translations. Pages fall out easily though as the binding is not strong.

invaluable
As I am reading old testament language with the university of Hebrew studies in Jerusalem on line this book is such a blessing and has helped me to understand how parsing texts is central to learning languages that are no longer spoken. I would recommend this book to any student of Old Testament Hebrew Language.
