Super fast, light, and small. Will get warm but not to extremes
The first time I used this drive I did notice that it got very hot. I'm not sure why but upon subsequent uses it has gotten warm but never so hot that it slowed itself down or came close to causing any internal damage to the drive. I did not update the firmware and I formatted the drive as ExFAT. The size is amazing. I can stick this in a pocket easily. It's smaller than a credit card and my wallet is thicker than this thing. It comes with a USB 3 to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-C cable. So you'd think if you have a USB-C capable computer you'd use it and I almost always do but there are times when I have both my USB-C ports taken up so I'll use a USB-C hub to connect this drive with my other external devices. I only do this in cases where speed is not as important and I can afford USB 3 speeds. Usually this is when I'm backing up the work I'm doing on the T7 to another external HDD that is only capable of USB 3 speeds. There's no benefit to be had when you're transferring files to or from a USB 3 drive and a USB-C drive. You're limited to the slowest link in your chain. Now, when I do music production I make sure to keep a USB-C port free for this drive and the speeds are so fast that it's as if I'm working off my internal SSD. Almost no noticeable difference in speed at all. I use this drive with my M1 MacBook Pro for music production. I keep my Logic Pro sound library, all my logic sessions, and my own personal sample library on this drive. I connect over USB-C and the drive is more than fast enough to do music production directly off of it without having to transfer anything to my internal storage. All of my music production is now done directly off this drive and the only thing running off internal storage is my DAW itself. Audio and video production takes a ton of storage space so having a drive like this that's fast enough to run audio and video production from is a lifesaver. I no longer have to worry about how many samples or libraries I want to install and I can just buy a bigger T7 if I ever run out of room on this one. Generally, I will move finished sessions to a regular USB 3.0 HDD for archiving and this SSD is more for working directly from. There is one time when the drive can be just a bit slow. There is no lag time whatsoever when recording or loading files. The only time I see a lag is when saving a Logic project session file. I'll get a spinning beachball for like half a second. It's not a big deal at all but I know that if I was using internal storage it wouldn't do that. This slows me down by only half a second every hour. It's not even worth mentioning but I guess I am just to be thorough. I mean, this thing is fast as hell but in the end it is still an external drive and technically it's going to be just slightly slower than your internal drive.

Excellent Quality & Compact. Fast, Reliable, Great Value
Very compact and fast transfer speeds. I have the T5 version in 256G and its been very dependable but with 4k & 8K videos these days it doesnt take much to fill 1TB let alone 256. For the quality I think its a good value for the price. The T7 &T5 are also very reliable, I have never had a lost or corrupted file. This drive fits in a pocket easily, very light and small, and is also compatible across all of my portable devices, including my Android phone, Mac Mini & MacBook Air, and my Windows laptop. I also use the same drive as my Time Machine backup drive for Mac.

Lightweight, fast, and perfect for storing photos and videos!
Lightweight, fast, and perfect for storing photos and videos! I do a lot of video and photo work on my phone, so having a portable SSD that’s lightweight is a huge plus. The transfer speeds are extremely fast, which makes moving large files quick and painless. It works smoothly with my phone and computer, and I love that it’s shock-resistant and durable. It also runs completely silent - no noise at all - which I really appreciate when I’m working. For anyone who works with videos, photos, or large files, this SSD is an excellent choice. It’s reliable, compact, and offers plenty of storage without adding extra bulk. Considering the performance and quality, the value for money is great!

Very pleased with this powerful compact SSD
Nice little SSD. small and slim. arrived in New sealed packaging and I just plugged it in using usb C cable enclosed. There is a USB A as well . Its quiet and functions perfect. I am using as a back up drive to my Mac Mini Pro 2 and Time Machine is already backing up to it. Its a redundant back up to my seagate USB A spin drive. And im pleased with it so far.

Fast, Portable SSD Lifesaver for M1 MacBook Air and M4 Mac Mini Storage Woes
I snagged the Samsung T7 Portable SSD (1TB, Gray) about five months ago from Amazon during a sale (~$90) to tackle storage limits on my 2020 MacBook Air M1 (16GB/256GB) and 2024 Mac mini M4 (16GB/256GB). As a web dev hobbyist training local AI models (e.g., Phi-3 Mini on my blog archives), I needed quick, reliable external space without slowing down my macOS Sequoia workflow. After reformatting to APFS in Disk Utility, it's been a seamless daily driver—plug-and-play via USB-C, no Samsung software required. Here's my experience from months of heavy use. Pros: Speed is the star—real-world reads/writes hit 850–950 MB/s direct into my Air's USB-C or Mini's Thunderbolt 4, blasting through 50GB ML datasets in under a minute (way faster than my old HDD). The 1TB capacity swallows backups, Python environments, and 4K video projects effortlessly, freeing my internals for active work. At pocket-sized (2.3 x 1.5 inches, 2 oz), it's perfect for shuttling between my portable Air and stationary Mini—no bulk for coffee-shop coding. The gray metal body with rubber grip shrugs off desk bumps, and it stays cool during long transfers. On my UGREEN Revodok 105 hub (for the Air's HDMI/charging setup), it runs stable via USB-A 3.0 (500 MB/s), but direct USB-C shines. Cross-platform? ExFAT default works great for Windows file shares with family. For the price, it's unbeatable value—durable, encrypted (hardware AES 256-bit), and future-proof for Apple Silicon. Cons: Out-of-box exFAT is fine, but reformatting to APFS (GUID scheme) is a must for Mac optimization—takes 5 minutes in Disk Utility, but newbies might skip it and see slower speeds. Theoretical 1,050 MB/s drops a bit on M1 USB-C (due to single-lane limits), but still blazing vs. competitors. The short USB-C cable (6 inches) means desk cable management, and no IP rating for water (grab the T7 Shield if outdoorsy). Tip: For M1/M4 Macs, erase/reformat to APFS right away (Disk Utility > Erase > APFS, GUID). Connect direct to USB-C for max speed; use with a hub like UGREEN's for multi-peripheral setups. Great for Time Machine—set it up in System Settings for automated backups. If sharing with Windows, stick to exFAT. This T7 is a no-brainer for Apple users needing portable power on a budget. It transformed my cramped setups into smooth-sailing storage havens. If you're juggling AI data or creative files, buy it—you won't regret!

Small and performant
I bought this as supplemental storage for my low-capacity Macbook. I was worried that it might be too inconvenient to use, but I've been very impressed. Performance: Excellent. It gets the advertised speeds and I don't notice any slowdown when using it compared to my internal SSD. Form factor: WAY smaller and lighter than I expected, in a good way. Its profile is scarcely larger than a credit card, and it's slightly thinner than a Bic pen. It's just big and sturdy enough that you won't easily lose it, but small and discrete enough to slip into a bag or sleeve easily. Encryption: I think that any mobile hardware with personal data on it should be encrypted. I was planning to encrypt the drive using third-party tools, but realized after buying that it has its own encryption hardware built in. The official app for decrypting the drive is super easy to use, and since it's all handled on the SSD itself, there's no extra overhead and minimal performance impact. If you're looking for an SSD that will see moderate daily use, this is easily the one to get.

Fast and Light device
Got this delivered in 5 days (from US to Singapore), i would say pretty fast shipping. Slightly disappointed as the box is quite badly damaged in transit, but item inside remains fine. Came with 2 cables, usb a or usb c options. Used the usb c option to connect to my macbook air. did some transfers and also used it as a time machine back up. Although I didn't measure it, it seemed fast enough and I am pleased with the performance of it. Nice blue color, super light and smaller than credit card size. (thicker for sure). Runs a little hot during long transfers so hope it stands up to use. Price of this item fluctuates quite a bit so if you are not urgent, monitor for a good time to buy.
