A Solid “Very Quiet” (But Not Completely Silent) Mouse for Productivity/Work – Recommended
In my view, the Cherry Gentix “Silent” wired mouse is a *great* “very quiet” mouse, suitable for serious productivity and non-gaming activity. =========================================== **Summary of Positives:** (1) The main buttons (left click and right click) are extremely quiet. (2) The “scroll wheel as button” (i.e., the “middle click”) is also very quiet. (3) The scroll wheel “downwards scroll” is very quiet. (4) No garish lighting. (5) The plastics and rubber side-materials selected look to be hard-wearing. (6) It works flawlessly with my KVM Switch (“Keyboard Video Mouse Switch”) unit. (As opposed to Wireless mice, which in my experience, don’t work well – or at all – with most KVM Switch units in the marketplace.) =========================================== **One Neutral or Negative Point:** The scroll wheel “upwards scroll” is a little more noisy than all the other actions, sadly. To clarify, it is not “noisy” per se, but it is not silent or “very quiet” either. Rather, it is only a little but quieter than a normal upwards scroll wheel action on a “non-silent” mouse. As an aside, this problem is not consigned to this Cherry “silent” (very quiet) mouse alone. A number of other so-called “silent” mice in the marketplace have this problem with their scroll wheels. One example is the mouse that is paired with the Logitech MK295 “Silent” Keyboard and mouse combo. Frankly, that Logitech mouse has noisy buttons, and a very noisy scroll wheel, yet purports to be a “quiet” mouse. Overall, I don’t think buyers should let this single aspect stop them from buying this mouse. =========================================== **Recommended Accompanying Keyboard (Cherry Stream)** I recommend using this very quiet wired productivity/non-gaming mouse with a *Cherry Stream* wired productivity/non-gaming keyboard. This is my current “daily driver” setup at my computer. Using this Cherry combo, I have *not* felt the need to upgrade to a relatively high-cost custom “silent / very quiet” full-sized UK-layout mechanical keyboard build. The Cherry combo is more than sufficient in my opinion. =========================================== **Competing Wired “Silent” Mice** As far as I am aware, at time of writing, the two main competitors to this Cherry Gentix “Silent” mouse are the Logitech M110 and B110. Both are wired, and both, purportedly, are silent (or “very quiet”) mice. I have not personally tested them, but from looking at some YouTube sound tests, their sound profiles seem to be fairly similar to this Cherry Gentix “Silent” mouse. =========================================== **Competing “Silent” Keyboard and Mice Combos** My preferred “daily driver” combo is (1), this Cherry Gentix Silent wired mouse, paired with (2), a Cherry Stream wired keyboard. I prefer this wired Cherry combo, by some distance, to a number of Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse combos that I have tried, including: (1) Logitech MK270 wireless keyboard and mouse combo. (2) Logitech MK295 “silent” wireless keyboard and mouse combo (only the keyboard is quiet – the accompanying mouse was noisy and annoying to use). (3) Logitech MK950 “signature” wireless keyboard and mouse combo. Moreover, at time of writing, the Logitech MK950 combo retails for more than the Cherry Gentix Silent plus Cherry Stream keyboard wired combo. =========================================== **One Disconcerting Aspect: Some Quality Variation Across A Sample of Two** I bought two of these mice in Dec 2025. One to use daily, and one as a spare, should the daily break. There was a slight variation in quality, from one to the other. The scroll wheel felt different on each mouse. On one mouse, it was slightly quieter, and on the other, it was slightly noisier. That was a little disconcerting. It may be an element on Quality Control that Cherry might want to address in future. If Cherry could really reduce the noise of the scroll wheel on future versions, that would result in an even stronger product. =========================================== **Conclusion** This is a *very* solid quiet business/productivity mouse, and a very solid accompaniment to the Cherry Stream wired business/productivity keyboard. It’s a strong buy in my opinion. I have no qualms about recommending this mouse. Moreover, I would also recommend a “Cherry Gentix Silent mouse plus Cherry Stream keyboard combo” to most productivity and quiet-computing users.

It really is silent.
Silent and comfortable to use, without all those unnecessary extra buttons to get in the way of things. Good quality, and value for money.

Excellent Quiet mouse
Great quality mouse 1 - Shape is great - the sides feel very good in use. The rear narrow shape fits very nicely and allows for less restricted movement. 2 - The clicks are muted no high pitched noise. The middle click is also muted unlike on every other cheap silent mouse I have tried including the tecknet silent mouse. havent tried the logitech ones. 3 - The mouse is reasuringly weighty. This one is a keeper for me.

Excellent
This is a really good mouse, responsive and super quiet - great for quiet office environments. My only gripe is that the rubber on the outside of the mouse has become worn away (after several months of daily use) but this does not affect functionality.

Quiet and comfortable
Used on both windows and on Linux. Comfortable for both an averaged sized male or female hand. Quiet. Hope they keep making these. Reliable.

pros well made , good weight with out being heavy or so light that a sneeze moves it perfect fit the shape is most definitely off the beaten path with the end being set higher then the front giving it a nice feel . The sides are very grippy Buttons are silent with out having a cheep feel , wheel moves easy but not so much as to feel cheep . worked with linux just fine and all my games Cons says it is a German product , but made in china shipping was outrageously slow 7 days to get the thing with no other option for faster shipping box came crushed , but mouse was fine

So the mouse is not silent. But it is much better than what I had. Also strange: only the left mouse button has sound dampening, the right click is seemingly un-modified and thus produces a click sound. The only benefit is right-click isn't used as much. I feel that should have been disclosed though. Not sure why a manufacturer would only silence one of the 2 buttons. The wheel is also silent. To compare to a standard mouse, on a scale of 1-5, 1 being audible like a regular mouse & 5 being silent I'd rate the mouse like this: left click=4, wheel click = 3, wheel roll = 5, right click = 2. The left click gets a 4 because it still produces a sound, its just more like a muted tap vs a click... if that helps.
