Yes. However, some debris may become logged in the small holes in the netting, so be careful to clean thoroughly and have fun.

I have used it to skim the surface of an outdoor pond and it works well. I think it would work fine filtering dirt and debris but it is not made for heavy duty work. Filtering aquarium gravel would be fine but digging in dirt would probably be too rough.
