Works great for my '03 4runner. Make sure there aren't other keys already programmed.
Works great for my 2003 4runner. Includes instructions for programming remote. To program the key for my truck I did the following:With all doors shut, insert and remove the original working key 5 times into the ignition. On the 5th insertion leave the key in the ignition. Now open an close the driver door 6 times. After you close the door the 6th time, remove the key. You will see a red light on the dash below the radio come on solid. If it is flashing then it did not work. You will need to start over. The solid red light indicates you are in program mode. Now within 10 seconds insert the new key. The light will start flashing. Leave in ignition for one minute at which time the light will go out indicating the key is programmed to work in your vehicle.Remove key and reinsert. The key should now start the car assuming you already have cut the key.IMPORTANT, the 4runner (and other cars) have a max of 5 keys that can be programmed. I came across the issue that it wasn't working. I found the following erase procedure.Erase Procedure used (steps similar to program procedure):All doors closed, 6 insertions of working key, leave in on 6th insertion, 7 Driver door opens & closes, remove key. That is now the only one that will work.

I expected it to not work but for $20 thought I had to try....Glad I did!
I was skeptical this would work. A local hardware store wanted $90 for the key and $110 for the Remote to unlock doors. They would have both come programmed and they said I could not do it myself despite seeing online that some people could. I have a 2005 Toyota 4 Runner that only came with one key from the dealer. I was able to purchase the Key and the remote from here for $20. The same Local hardware store would not cut the key unless you purchased it there. I called a local locksmith they cut it for $4.00 and if it would have been they type of key were the cuts are not on the outside of the key but on the inside down a hollow channel it would have cost $35 for that type, but I got lucky and it was the cheaper one. Programming was pretty easy. 2 different routines for the key and the remote. Both took 2 attempts, not sure why. and over all took 20 minutes for me to research how to do it and do both. They give you a card with the address for a website that seemed to only have the instructions for the remote, which did work. But I had to look up how to do the key on my own which was easy to find and do. So for what the hardware store would have charged $200 for I got for a total of $24 and it works perfectly.

Key and fob both work - 2004 Sequoia
I looked at quite a few transponder program methods, most are similar, but this variant worked on my 2004 Sequoia SR5:1) Close all doors2) Insert your Master key (black) int the key cylinder3) Turn the ignition from Lock to On 5 times within 15 seconds – on the 5th time, leave the key in the ON position. IMPORTANT: each on/off cycle has to be done QUICKLY.4) Open and close the driver’s door 6 times within 20 seconds5) Turn the Master key back to Lock and remove6) Insert the new blank key and turn to ON position - QUICKLY7) Leave in ON position for at least 60 seconds (while the key registers with the vehicle). The security light (red car shape with the key shape in it) should turn off when programmed.8) After 60+ seconds, remove the key.9) Open then Close the driver’s door to end the process

Far beats the dealership alternative
The remote was easily self-programmed in the driveway in less than one minute (after following what I call "comical"instructions found online) at a cost of $0. For peace of mind and speed, the key was taken to, cut and programmed by a reputable locksmith at a cost of $60. In order to get a key and remote programmed at a local Toyota dealership, the cost would have been $300 plus tax. For a spare set of keys/remote, my investment totaled around $85. This particular Amazon key bundle purchase, which works on a 2003 Toyota 4Runner, is recommended.

Worked on 2004 4Runner including self programming of key
I have a 2004 Toyota 4 Runner. Both products worked great.Came wit instructions on how to program remote which worked just fine.I found a YouTube video which explained how program the transponder embedded in the key which worked. The procedure for programming key: (Assumes you have an original fully functional key)With all doors shut, insert and remove the original working key 5 times into the ignition. The key should now start the car assuming you already have cut the key.Again this worked on my 2004 4Runner. The video claimed it worked on 2003 to 2008 4Runners. Automotive lock smith charge around $80 to cut and program a key. Ace Hardware charged me $5 to cut the key and I programmed it myself.Good luck. Search google for your exact car. That is what I did.

Laughably Easy. Perfect Function. THANK YOU.
This key fob works perfectly for my 2004 Toyota 4Runner. The instructions are easy to follow, and are funny, too. I stood outside my suv following the steps, and one of said "close the door" and the next step was "remove key from ignition", and there I stood, outside my suv with the door closed :) oops! So sit down in your car and then do this :) The metal key has to be programmed by a locksmith, but I saw an electronic key machine at walmart a few months ago. I'm going to see if I can use the key this vendor sent me in the walmart machine and get it programmed for five bucks.
