This is about as basic as you can get, but it does the job admirably. It features a simple lever lock to attach to your car vent, with two different thickness settings to make sure it grips on tightly enough if you have thinner vent slats. The actual holder part swivels on a simple ball joint to allow you to rotate your phone horizontal or vertical, with a screw cap to lock it in place once rotated. The two arms on the side are spring loaded, with a release button on the back, to allow you to make sure your phone is held tightly in place. The whole thing is padded to protect your phone. That's about it. But, as with most AmazonBasics products I've used, it is of a perfectly acceptable quality standard and at a very reasonable price, which I guess is the whole point of the range. I will just add that you should make sure you should make sure of two things before buying. Firstly, make sure you have vent slats suitable for fixing something like this to. If you have the kind with the ones that open and close loosely, you may find that the weight of this will pull the slats closed, which is the case with mine, although this can be worked around by adjusting the direction of the slats. Secondly, have a look at the placement of buttons and jacks in your phone, as you may find, as I did, that the arms on the holder might block or push these inconveniently. I can't really use that as a reason to reduce the score however as the fact that it happens to be incompatible with my particular phone doesn't somehow make it a bad product.

The clamp has two settings to accommodate different breadths of air vent vane, and holds the frame securely in place once affixed. It can be a little bit fiddly to install as the release lever at the back is pretty small but, once tightened, it's very solid. Driving around doesn't dislodge the holder or cause it to 'flop' at all, even when bumping over speed humps or potholes.The cushioned pads on the sides and bottom of the holder are subtly clever: cut on an angle so the phone sits in place snugly and doesn't drop out while you squeeze the clamping side-arms around the device. And the adjustable side grips are brilliant: it's easy to insert a phone of just about any width and then hold it simply and snugly. A small button underneath releases them with such a smooth action that you'll swear it's motorised. It's awesome.All in all, this is an absolutely great in-car phone holder which has the looks and performance of a far more pricey option. There's almost nothing to say against it, so I give it five stars.

This product does exactly what its meant to do. Easy to install, secure and holds phone safely. A basic item yes but who needs frills just to do a simple job!

This is in my opinion the absolute best design of its type and replaces one I bought years ago that worked the same way but cost me a lot more. The mechanisms for releasing the phone are so smooth and to grip you just gently squeeze together. Fits perfectly to the air vents and once you secure with the little lever at the back, it’s fixed so securely that even the bumpiest roads or jolts in terrain don’t dislodge it.Everything you want from a phone holder!

I liked the way this phone holder could fit even a small, circular, swivelling air vent. The fixing clip does not protrude far inside the vent. It just clips on to a single strip of the vent's grille, and does not stop the vent from being moved.The phone holder itself has soft, non-slip edges that hold your phone well, and is attached to the vent clip by a ball and socket joint. It takes a firm push to assemble. A little button on the lower back of the holder releases the side arms, so it is quick and easy to insert and remove your phone.I've tried several different phone holders, and this well-designed device is the best yet.

Honestly this is strong, durable and easy to set up!!!! Amazon well done, I take my hat off! this is a good product at a good price!!!!
