The challenge for those of us who cannot eat gluten is to get enough fiber on a daily basis, especially those of us who can't tolerate oats in addition to gluten grains.This is a white crystalline powder that thoroughly and easily mixes in beverages so that one doesn't even know it's there. (Contrast that with scratchy, gritty, thick, and generally gagging psyllium powders.)This product is painless, and it is very gentle on the digestive system. It is virtually tasteless, adding what appears to me to be just a hint of sweetness.It works great in one's morning coffee. I have mixed it into spaghetti sauce and also recently into gluten free rice bread, all with perfect results (aka, you don't know it's there, but it provides needed fiber).With the recent hysteria over arsenic in rice, and the higher levels of arsenic in brown rice, I've switched to eating more white rice -- resulting in even less dietary fiber. This soluble fiber helps a lot and in addition to some added vegetables, keeps things moving.Highly recommend for everyone who needs more fiber.

This is the BEST works great like any fiber product, but the fact is could be added to anything, and does not change the taste of what your are adding it to is super ! Here is an example : My old CAT is very picky about the food he will eat, and prefers to eat dry food, he gets very constipated, and has a colitis too. The veterinarian could not help to solve this with the liquid medication that was add to the cat food, and the cat would smell it and did not eat at all. This product if you add 1/2 tea spoon to the cat food like Fancy feast beef flavor, and mix it in really good, the cat will not know it is there, and your CAT or DOG constipation problem is solved, all you have to do is just daily based on your pet size add once a day to the small amount of the food, and no more colitis issues with the pet.I am so happy I found this solution for my PET and I hope this will help some one else who have similar problem with a pet.My older parent using this daily for a long time now, and loves this product, he was the one to suggest to try it with the CAT and it did WORKED perfectly , no more VET bills for the constipation/colitis issue here. This is plain plain Inulin,, a gentle laxative that is great for Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Obviously would work for the type of IBS that involves chronic constipation. Not so obviously, it is gentle enough that taking small doses and increasing them gradually can bring even mixed IBS, or IBS with Diarrhea, under control over time, starting with a half teaspoon at a time.Inulin in itself is sweet and needs no flavor added, just take it "unfooled around with."I mix Inulin with NOW apple fiber, slightly less than a tablespoon of Inulin with slightly more than a table spoon of apple fiber. The combination is sweet, but a little tasteless. Inulin dissolves easily and nicely; that may help the apple fiber to mix with water as well. For the best taste, I'd suggest mixing with sugar-free applesauce.Also, given the laxative effect, start with a small amount and gradually increase the dose.I took away a star because of the doctors who insisted I MUST take the psyllium husk form of Metamucil, which was synonymous with the brand name Metamucil for many years. That kind of fiber is painful and unhelpful for IBS, and I resent Metamucil for shoving it down doctors' throats and convincing them that their IBS patients needed to take it. I don't know what Metamucil tells doctors now.

I didn't want to purchase the original Metamucil with orange flavor because it had maltodextrine, yellow 6, artificial flavor, and aspartame. This was perfect because it's just 100% inulin. Tasteless. Easy to dissolve. Works great! (Note: Although it will dissolve in cold liquid, it takes a lot more stirring and a little more time, so I typically just add it to my daily cup of hot tea, and it dissolves almost instantly.)

Ok, I couldn't resist the pun, but seriously, Metamucil didn't work for me at all.I eat a fairly controlled, high-protein diet with lots of green veggies and have never had a ton of trouble with staying regular. I mostly took this due to the promises I heard of being completely regular, with nothing but a "courtesy wipe" afterward, to get me in and out of the bathroom much more quickly. I gradually worked my way up in terms of dosage, starting with one teaspoon the first week and going up to three by the third week.If anything, not only have I become less regular, but I seem to spend even more time wiping than I did before. I now sometimes go two or three days without going at all, then I'll have to go three times in one day. The consistency is mushy and leaves a lot of residue. And the urge to go can often come out of nowhere, which is the last thing anyone wants.I said I'd stick it out until I finished the bottle, but with maybe a few days' worth left to go, I have to throw this in the trash before it does any more useless damage. The only good thing I'll say about the product is that is dissolves really well, not leaving any grit or weird taste, so at least you've got that. And I'm sure it must work for SOMEBODY, otherwise it wouldn't be so popular. But be forewarned that this has potential to completely ruin your system when you start taking it. I will not be taking this product ever again.

Metamucil Clear and Natural Powder is the answer to my prayers! It is a tasteless, ordorless powder which can be added to almost any food. I prefer to put it in my morning coffee - and I'm set for the day. It is the perfect solution for me, and my doctor approves. One can use up to 3 teaspoons a day but depends on the additional amount of fiber consumed. One teaspoon a day for me does the job. Wonderful product, and I'm glad to have discovered it!
