Magnetize-It! Standard, 32 oz

The product is clumpy, I assume because it is attracted to itself. The consistency reminds me of cold chocolate pudding. So you must have patience when applying this, or you'll waste product. I applied 3 thin coats, and then normal paint on top of that. I did not wait between coats because each layer was dry by the time I started over, since I used thin coats. I would have done more coats, but the can is SMALL. Hence, I only painted the center third of my child's wall. It will not hold anything heavy, but it does work with small magnets, kids play magnets, and earth magnets. If I ever get more patience and more money to spare, I'd buy again and make up another use for it.

I was very excited about trying this so I could “hang” frames and decor on my walls instead of putting holes in my walls. But the magnetization is Very weak! I went a little crazy In my application at first, because I wanted to use it all over the house. And despite I mixed it well, it didn’t go very far. It’s very thick. And once I read the directions, it stated needing 3-6 coats. I was able to finish the areas I highly desired with 3 coats, and I had a strong magnet to try on it, but it barely held, let alone a frame or even a piece of paper. So I tried another can, so I could make my 6 coats, and I don’t notice a difference from when I only had 3 coats. I even proceeded to order their magnets to try on their paint, just in hopes, maybe that’s what I was missing. But still no different. In fact, I have yet to paint over it, which I’m dreading, because they called it grey, but it came out to be black once I used it, and I’m sure 1 coat of latex paint is not going to cover it, along with the fact, I can’t help to think painting over it will only weaken what little magnetization there is…$50 down the drain, just on the magnetize it paint, let alone the magnets and extra latex paint in order to paint over it.

Use this paint to make a magnetic board to hang signs on. Has good coverage whenever painted, not too bad a smell. I used it to make a magnet board for grandkids to play with.

First off, buy strong magnets. I read somewhere to get Rare Earth Magnets. Do that. Regular magnets aren't strong enough. (All the little grey dots in the pic are magnets) As you can see from my pic, I decided to make a pattern. If you choose to do so, use frog tape and it's okay to let it dry all the way. I did 7 coats. You read that right. SEVEN. I could've stopped at 6 though. I tested the magnets every layer. (I ended up with a little over 1/4 of the can of paint left.) The paint is pretty thick and stinky. Open windows, and many foam brushes. It just absolutely destroyed my foam brushes. I went though at least 2 per layer. (1" brushes) Although at some point I tried to use a sponge. It works but it's messier. I did not do a top layer of paint, but I might at some point in the future to protect it. If it gets wet, even a week later, you can somewhat rub it away. Honestly, it was kinda convenient to clean up my lines, but I've got kids.. One Rare Earth Magnet can hold two pieces of paper. That's it. I'm okay with it because I mostly bought it so my kid could hang up her pictures by herself. Our fridge unfortunately isn't magnetic.

This product was not what I expected. The paint has the consistency of pudding, making it difficult to spread. The wall space painted is 55” x 80”. One 32oz can was barely enough for 1 coat. I ordered grey anticipating the paint would be grey not black. The paint itself is gritty, making surfaces rough. Make sure you cover/tape off any surface you don’t want to sand after like trim and baseboards. I am disappointed with the produce description also. No where in the description does it say how many coats are needed or recommended for desired magnetic effect. Nor does it mention how many top coats can be added before it looses magnetization. As you can see in the picture the magnetic paint is black, not grey, painted over a lighter color. The idea was to create a magnetic wall for my teen’s room with the lighter color as the top coat.

This works great, it just requires patience…It’s very watery with a big lump of goo when you open in. I broke up the lump with a paint stick then stired it up with a beater on a drill (should have done it a few more minutes as it still had small lumps). Then put some on a plate & used a foam roller to apply it…my roller was textured so it didn’t go on smooth (it was just the roller I happened to have around). You have to wait 1 hr between coats, so rather than cleaning up, just put plastic wrap on your roller and it will stay wet.

It takes a powerful magnet to hold a paper to the wall. The application was a nightmare

Requiere darle unas 3-4 manos para que funcione mejor. Me gusto mucho el resultado.

When you get the paint, the can says MINIMUM 3 COATS recommended for magnetization. I was painting two classroom blackboards and one 32 oz can did one coat only. Also, what I assume are the magnetization particles really stick together in the bottom and in lumps throughout the paint despite serious effort to stir/mix them up. I did 2 coats and my magnets are still not sticking to the board. Very disappointed.

100% should be put on with a brush. Its thick paint
