Nice knife- sharp from the start; interested to see how long it stays sharp.
This knife is very comfortable, at least in my hand, and my wife has no complaints, so there you go. It's lightweight and sharp right out of the box. Spyderco quality and made in Seki City Japan, where many of their better knives come from. The steel they used (MBS-26) also gets some good feedback on the web. However, although it is a stainless steel it will show some rust spots, as others have noted. Mine were small, but started appearing after only a few washes. They can be removed if you're careful and know what you're doing (the steel will scratch if you get too aggressive), so I think it's best if the knife's dried right after washing. I was hoping for a totally carefree knife, but this one looks to need a little TLC. I'm interested in seeing how long it stays sharp and how easy it is to re-sharpen.

Spyderco Plain Edge Paring Knife with 4.48" Pointed Blade
I myself am a "Blade Freak" I own over 100 top High Quality knives (Puma, Buck, Ka-Bar, Spyderco, Fox of Italy, just to name drop a few) I also buy 0-1 oil hardened tool steel for "my own 1 of a kind" that I make myself, I was feeling a bit guilty about spending $4-500 on knives for my collection, my 78 year young mother does a lot to help me keep my crippled up self from falling into depression (I was diagnosed with extreme, sever RA in 2011)- I know that mom does what she does , because that's what parents do,( I have 5 children, 10 grandchildren myself) I also know the Very High Quality that Spyderco puts into their blades, the 1 million dollar research and development facility they have in Colorado, I ordered my mom the paring knife that Amazon has for a very good price- When I gave the fine quality kitchen knife to mom she said "I don't go hunting or hike much to need such a nice knife as a Spyderco" I told her to remove it from the box, she smiled like I haven't seen her do for a while, she LOVES it!! I will be buying her more Spyderco kitchen blades, Mom has anything she could need, she has me, the son who worried her for many (40+) years at home on the family ranch and who is living a "clean" life today, I thank Spyderco and Amazon for offering the kitchen line of TOP QUALITY blades, so those of us who live 70+ miles from town, have the ability to shop for items we couldn't find any place else- Thanks for helping me put a smile on a mothers face

Let Down
First of all, I absolutely love SpyderCo Knives but this one, not so much. The handle is so small and while I have relatively large hands, this knife is for someone with smaller hands. Second, I was really bummed this doesnt come with a sheath. Like really? What knife doesnt come with a sheath? I am returning for these two reasons.

Good Knife
This is a decent knife. It feels good in the hand and cuts well. I can't speak for longevity of the edge because I touch up my knives regularly to keep them razor sharp. On occasion, I do get a tiny amount of rust where the blade enters the handle. I hand wash the knife and leave it in the drain rack, point up. I'm sure this contributes to the problems. Its not a big deal. I use the knife everyday and probably once a month I'll notice a little surface rust at the handle joint that wipes off. I think this depends on humidly and how long the knife stays wet on any particular day.I think this knife compares in quality to the similar styled Victorinox kitchen knives.

if you like a knife that will take and keep a super sharp edge
Besides getting tired of using my Spyderco Sage to cut potatoes, onions, garlic and celery. I got tired of using the Sage in the kitchen for other stuff too. I tried ordering some other high end Japanese knock off for $10 less. I felt like an idiot for doing it and sent it back. I'm probably going to buy the Spyderco Kitchen Santoku eventually as well. Bottom line is if you like a knife that will take and keep a super sharp edge, then this it. My understanding is that the MBS-26 steel is comparable to VG-10. [...]26-Steel if you want to know more.

Don't do it
I'm a huge Spyderco fan. It's my go to brand when it comes to knives. But this specific knife is complete garbage it takes way too much effort to cut through any meat and especially any fish. Also the handle feels like cheap plastic because it is. Shame on Spyderco for releasing this garbage

Great Knife! It's All Good
Very good. I have many many knives and I'd recommend this one to others over some much more expensive knives. No frills, all action. I reach for this over most of my more expensive paring knives.Thin blade (great for slicing!), great overall shape. Comes super sharp. Handle is plastic, but more than reasonable for the price and the molded shape of the handle is good for gripping. It's a nice size for sitting down and cutting up a fresh fruit or vegetable to eat.
