Shimano M375 Brake Caliper 2017

These calipers are extremely easy to install and set up. I installed these on a rigid single speed 29er that has a damaged hub that causes a slight wobble in the brake rotor. These calipers not only had enough clearance to eliminate annoying brake rub, but they also still have a firm feel and responsive brake engagement within the first half of lever pull. Stationary pad adjuster screw makes adjusting for pad wear easy. ________________ These calipers provide plenty of stopping power. Once I bedded these in with the new rotors, Shimano BR56, they provide enough power to skid the front tire of my mountain bike on pavement and gravel. ________________ These calipers are a great value, especially if you are replacing existing mechanical calipers. At $25 each, these are an exceptional value. They do not come with Universal Mount adapters, but this was not an issue for me because I already had the adapters I needed. _______________ High Quality. Like most items from Shimano, the quality of these calipers is evident in the finish and feel of the item. They don't weigh much, which is good. All surfaces are smooth and precise and they feel solid and sturdy. _______________ My set up includes two of these calipers on Universal to post mount adapters, Shimano BR56 180mm rotor up front, 160mm in the rear. Shimano universal stainless steel brake cabling and Shimano T-Type brake levers. This setup comes up to less than $50 a wheel and produces ample power.

Great upgrade to my MTB mechanical disc brakes! Works even better than my hydraulic calipers on my hardtail bike. Highly recommended if you have mechanical calipers and are looking for smoother, better stopping with a high quality part

I decided to upgrade my MTB & the brakes were one system I felt deserved an upgrade. I originally had V-brakes, wanted to try disc brakes & felt a pair of SHIMANO M375 Brake Calipers were a good entry level choice. The M375 calipers come w/the mounting bolts (pre thread lockered), washers & brake pads. The installation was straightforward & simple. I installed w/180mm Shimano XT SM-RT86 rotors in both the front & rear. For the front fork, I used a Shimano SM-MA90 post to post adapter & in the rear, a Shimano SM-MA-R180 IS to post adapter. With this setup, the M375’s work awesome. After a couple test rides & adjustments, the braking is strong, even when wet (unlike wet V-brakes). The M375 calipers have 1 moving (outside) pad & 1 stationary (inside) pad when the lever is squeezed. I’ve read & watched some instructionals that recommend placing a credit card or thin shim between the stationary pad & rotor when mounting. Although this works, I found this is not necessary. When mounting the calipers, I installed the bolts hand tight, allowing the calipers to move. I then squeezed the brake lever, this allowed the caliper to adjust itself on the mount, aligning to rotor. I then tightened the mounting bolts, securing the caliper. This will cause the stationary pad to rub the rotor. At the inside of the caliper, if you look through your wheel from the opposite side, you’ll see an adjustment bolt for the stationary pad. I backed off the pad w/the adjustment bolt 1 click at a time, until the wheel spun freely w/out rub. This allows for forward adjustment of the pad as it wears down in the future. Just my 2 cents. If your converting from V (rim) brakes, don’t forget to order/buy new brake cables. Your brake lines are most likely too short to reach the new position of the brake calipers. If you’re looking for an inexpensive entry level mechanical disc brake system, I can recommend the Shimano M375 calipers as a great option. So there's a thing in biking called an Endo. It's short for End Over End, and it's when you brake (or hit something) so hard with your front wheel that your rear wheel leaves the ground. Usually this results in you flipping over the handlebars, which is where the name comes from. However, if you have a good enough brake (both in terms of stopping power, and control of that power) you can control the Endo, and lift your rear wheel without flipping over. That is the fastest way to stop a bike, period, because you can't apply more braking power to the front without flipping, and the rear wheel is off the ground so braking harder with it won't do anything. In a controlled Endo, you are applying maximum braking power for your bike's geometry and speed, so getting a stronger brake won't help you, it'll only make you flip over the bars faster. This brake lets me Endo in a controlled manner, reliably. Therefore, this brake is good enough that a better one won't actually stop me any faster. It's not the most powerful, but it really doesn't need to be. In other news, it doesn't squeak much, is easy to align/trim, and the pads last for ages, even with daily stop and go city traffic. Now, that said, there's a very important thing you should know about this brake. The cable attachment mechanism has a flaw. When your pads are running (very) low, the knob on the side that the cable pulls on to activate the brake can rotate far enough backwards that the cable flexes the opposite way, at its attachment point to the knob. It's hard to explain in words, but if you have this brake, take the wheels off your bike and pull the cable as far as you can, you'll see the flex point, right where the cable end is bolted to the brake. That flex point means that, if you don't replace the pads when they wear down, your cable will bend back and forth to the point of snapping. I had both cables, front and rear, snap on the same day, because I brake evenly with front and back to distribute wear. So, once a month, give your brakes a good pull while looking at the calipers, and make sure that flex isn't happening.

Great stopping power from a mechanical brake, this was installed on a Swagtron EB7 ebike and performs way better than the factory one. Comes with pads. They look and perform 3 times its price. May recommend upgrading the cable adjusting screw for a better tool-free tensioning.

I have been using them for about 3 years now they work well and are easy to adjust but they do get in the way of some of my accessories because of the large circle swing arm design.

I used a pair of these Shimano calipers to add disc brakes on the front and rear of my mid 80's Trek aluminum frame mountain bike, when converting it into a 1500W electric urban assault commuter bike. The front was easy. These calipers bolted directly to the Suntour suspension front fork I purchased as part of the upgrade. The rear was considerably more challenging. I found a disc brake adapter on Amazon to add disc brakes to bikes without disc brake braze ons, but the universal adapter required a fair amount of modification, custom shims, etc. It also required me to buy the Shimano MA-R mounting bracket. These disc brakes may not offer the wheel locking braking power of hydraulic disc brakes, but they're super easy to install and maintain and they're compatible with conventional cable operated brake levers. I'm not even sure there are hydraulic brake levers for electric bikes with the integrated brake switches in the levers. The stopping power is MUCH better than the old U brakes I had on my mountain bike. Disc brakes are a very nice upgrade and the BR-M375 calipers offer a very good value. The price is very low but the quality is excellent.

Bought these because the factory issue ones on my E-bike failed after about 580 miles. So far, they have been awesome, color matches, pretty easy to install and adjust, fit well, and they feel pretty solid when braking. Noticed right out of the box they were made of stronger metal than the ones that came with the bike. The ball bearings + actuator ramp came lubricated, and the assembly itself is more closed off compared to the last ones, which is awesome, because it will be easier to keep clean, and I don’t have to worry about getting grease where it isn’t supposed to be. Would recommend.

Comme on le voit sur la photo je voyage avec un vélo très très lourd , pourtant j'ai choisi de retirer mes freins hydrauliques d'origine pour lui installer des freins mécaniques , la raison est que les freins mécaniques sont moins fragile et beaucoup plus facile à réparer sur le bord de la route , mais il faut que les freins soient efficaces et durable , alors j'ai installé ces mâchoires mécanique Shimano et des disques de la même marque , le résultat est bluffant d'efficacité , c'est sûr qu'il faut appuyer un peu plus sur les manettes de frein pour obtenir le même résultat qu'avec les mâchoires hydraulique d'origine , mais cette installation mécanique est largement suffisante pour stopper net tout le poids de mon équipement . Il est certain que la qualité de ces mâchoires Shimano y sont pour beaucoup sur l'efficacité de mon freinage , mais je vous recommande quand même de leurs installer aussi des disques Shimano de qualité équivalente ainsi que des gaines et des câbles bien rigide , donc si vous souhaitez vraiment obtenir un freinage mécanique presque aussi efficace que de l'hydraulique il faut faire cela . Perso je vous recommande vivement cette installation de qualité si vous voulez faire des économies tout en ayant un super freinage . A bientôt 😉

Los compré porque se me partieron los que tenía montados por un golpe. La diferencia de calidad es brutal. Frena mejor (casi tan bien como los hidráulicos aunque tengas que hacer más fuerza), no hacen ruido y se le ve muy robusto (es un poco pesado) Me ha gustado tanto que he comprado otro para sustituir al que no se me rompió
