Used this book as a refresher course, very helpful since it has been over 25 years since I last picked up a violin.

Great for someone just starting with music. It gives the background of the creation ofthe violin, helpful tips on what to purchase alongside it to get the best out of yourinstrument and also tells you how to read each note or half note carefully steadily and simply. I’d recommend it to anyone.

Maybe I'm the only one, but when the description said "Complete Guide to Learn to Play the Violin", I thought a lot more of the book would be about that. The first 50 out of 100 pages are solely about violin care and maintenance, which I'd think anyone would just Google as-needed. Then there's a just-fine introduction to music theory at large. then, finally, around 20 pages dedicated to playing the violin, mostly in paragraphs.Finally, the sheet music included are the 5 songs played in every intro youtube video or front page of any violin intro website. To round out the lack of purpose to this book, they are printed landscape so you can't prop your book against something to play them.That is the content of the book. I don't feel like it's what I bought, but if you want a small violin care book, this is definitely it.

This book s really helping my step-son to learn playing

Very helpful and informative, but not for initial beginners.

This product will not download. I have ordered many e-books from Amazon, and they have always downloaded fine. I really wanted this e-book, but for some reason, there is a problem with the delivery mechanism or something. It appears in my Kindle like all the rest of my books. When i click on it, nothing happens, it just closes my Kindle e-reader. this is 2nd time i have had to go back and click "Refund" since it won't open. This problem needs to be corrected.

not a book to learn to play a violin... more of a history of violin

This book is written as though you already know advanced music theory vocabulary.Example: "when you see a spotted note, that note is expanded by one a large portion of the length of it unique worth."If you know what that means you probably already know how to read music and music theory.Why not just say "for dotted notes, add half the value of the note it is attached to"I will be returning and finding something that is actually suited for actual beginners

This book is useful in learning how to select and care for a violin, but has absolutely no instruction on how to actually play the instrument. I purchased a different book, which was fantastic. Don't waste your money on this if you're wanting to learn how to play the violin.
