GracesDawn Diamond Glass Hourglass Purple Sand 30 Minutes with

I timed it out - this 30 minute hourglass went for 30 minutes almost exactly.The "glass" feels more like a hard plastic, whoch is sturdy and has good build quality, but not glass. Which, honestly, is fine because it's more durable and lighter than a glass version would be.The size is bigger than I thought it would be, which is nice.It's not the prettiest thing - it won't stand out like the "antique" styles on here, but unlike those it is very reliable.

Is it really glass? Maybe, I'd have to break it to be sure. It appears as a thick coke bottle glass, but it weighs next to nothing. It doesn't have the glass reflection you would expect. At a glance, I would swear it's plastic, but on closer inspection...??? With that said, I really do like it. It's probably a good thing that it's not a thin glass as it could easily get broken. I'm not concerned if I should knock this over lightly. The timing of 30 minutes was spot on. I do like being able to set a minimum time to write and if I should exceed that time, I'm not disrupted by an alarm. The same concept works for putting kids down for a nap. They know it's quiet time until the sand runs out. Should they fall asleep, an alarm doesn't wake them. Win/Win.

Just as described, but watch out, it will break easily. Mine didn't last a week.

I tried 2 other sand timers before I finally found the right one. This is about 7.75" tall and 4" diameter so it's rather large. The glass has some weight to it, but not heavy, and has a pretty reflection. I agree with one reviewer who said the glass is similar to a Coke bottle. The sand is a nice purple color, not cheap looking. Accuracy on the one I got is 30 min 30 sec, which works for my purposes. I am very pleased with the product.

I bought this item for my wife. She is a school teacher and she uses it to provide visual time for her middle school students. She absolutely love it and it helps her students to stay focus within the hour time frame. It's very pretty as a decoration, and an effective visual time management tool for her students. Perfect, and definitely effective for her use.

neat little conversation piece!! my experimental time dock, gave the hourglass 31 minutes and some change. not a problem for me though, also it sits EVENLY on a surface.

Larger than I expected, but then thinking about it, it holds 10 times the amount of sand for a 3-minute timer...... The purple sand is bright and beautiful deep color. The hourglass feels like glass, so it has some weight to it, which a broad base on each end that will prevent tipping. Very happy with the product, which can easily be seen from a distance of 15 feet.
