The sound quality is fantastic
I paid £198 for this speaker. It might sound expensive but it’s well worth it. The sound is fantastic as good as my very expensive technics music system which is complicated to tune and I might add troublesome. This Alexa is easy to set up. Easy to operate and so easy to connect to any radio station. It comes into its own when I connect Spotify no messy connection unlike the music system. Not sure how old the unit is as it was purchased as refurbished. So the only downside I don’t actually know how old it is thus I’m unsure of the longevity of the unit. However I have 4 other standard Alex’s which I’ve had for many years without any issues so I suppose I’ve not much to worry about so I should just get on and listen to the excellent music it generates. Highly recommended

Quality speaker at a good price.
Got this as an Amazon return for £108.00. - it had no marks or flaws that I could see. The sound is really good and fills the room - you can adjust the Bass, Mid range and Treble in the Alexa App. The voice recognition software is also a lot better than the old echoes which sometimes wouldn't respond if you had the music on loud., this Studio has only done that a couple of times so far and I've had it about 3 months. So far so good really pleased with it - especially for the price (their over £200 for a new one)

Stay or Go?
I already have two Sonos Era 100 speakers and bought these to compare. They were easier and quicker to setup. And price was better as I bought the refurb ones, and like other buyers, found they were immaculate and just like new. Because of the price, these offered better value than my Sonos which were about the same price as these new. But overall, I had a few issues with these that made them not quite as good as the Sonos. First was the wireless connection. The Sonos work anywhere in the house. But these, get them too far away, and they became a bit intermittent picking up the wireless signal. I also found that to play both Echo Studio speakers together I had to tell Alexa they were in the same room (even if they weren't). This was not a problem with the Sonos. The Echo Studio also seem to lose the sound settings between each play. I have to constantly re-adjust the bass and treble before every use. Again, not a problem on the Sonos which stores the settings just fine. Sound quality left us divided. The Sonos always sound good on any setting. The Echo Studio need some tweaking to get them to sound as good as the Sonos. And they do in the end. But it is frustrating they lose the setting each time. I decided to keep these because of the price and the Alexa features. But if you bought these new at £220, some £100 extra, I would be returning them as their are too many niggles and the Sonos just works better overall.

Not HiFi, but good sound quality.

That it isn't so easy for digital technophobes to set up! But utterly brilliant nonetheless.
I work in the music industry, and I've enjoyed many speakers over the years in my home. These, for sitting back and listening to for pleasure are a revelation. Once set up, they work flawlessly and seem to ooze musicality. I have two pairs of Echo studios, and a subwoofer, one connected to an Amazon Fire Cube for use as a home Cinema, the other in my office. Try these instead of a soundbar or wire- mad surround system. They are truly excellent, and for all the associated Alexa bells and whistles they boast, an absolute steal. My study pair upstairs are a 'reconditioned' purchase option. For good looks and operational value straight out of the box, they may as well be brand new. Highly recommended! Dave of Horsham

Great speaker
I’ve had an echo dot plugged into my separates for years and wanted to look at wireless options. Went through all of them and this was by far the best option for sound/money comparison. Ended up buy another one to make a stereo pair and bought the matching sub as well Plenty of headroom, great quality sound and adjustability through the Alexa app and an Alexa built in so no the echo dot is in the bedroom. Very happy.

Great potential let down by software
Short version: It can sound great at times but it only sounds consistently great with Amazon Music "360" songs. Other songs seem to get "intelligently tuned" to sound worse than they do on speakers less than half the price of this one; this happens occasionally on Amazon Music (same song can sound different) or permanently with Spotify Long version: The speaker apparently does some "intelligent" audio tuning to calibrate to the acoustics of the room it's in, which sounds great in theory, but severely underperforms in most cases. By default, it sounds pretty great with amazon's selection of "360" songs (which Alexa prompts you to try upon setup), but other songs can be hit or miss. The speaker has a toggle for "stereo spatial enhancement" which is on by default but i found on certain songs can make the Studio sound cheap and tiny, not as bad as the airplane earbuds you can get, but the same sort of hollow tin like sound. Here's where i think the "intelligent" audio tuning comes into play. Not only do some songs sound better with the toggle on, while others sound noticeably worse, but the SAME track can sound different between playthroughs regardless of the toggle position. If you like to use Spotify, this speaker is not for you. While the Spotify app actually works with the Studio much better than the Amazon Music app, the Studio absolutely crushes the song quality with a very muddy sound or a very hollow one depending on the track. I have yet managed to get this speaker to produce a pleasing Spotify track regardless of how much I fiddled with the Alexa app settings. I've got a few echo devices and at times the Studio sounds almost as bad and mush-y as the 3rd gen Dot. I've also got two 1st generation Echo Plus speakers and they trounce the Studio on anything that is not an Amazon Music ULTRA HD 360 track, regardless if i set them up as a stereo pair (which is pretty great to be fair) or stand-alone. The only aspect where the Studio wins in this comparison is the heftier bass, but the rest of the song sounds bad enough that i would rather stick with the clarity of the Echo Plus. Considering how cheap those Echo Plus devices are nowadays on resale sites, I would argue they are a much better buy due to their consistent performance and significantly better value than the Echo Studio On the other had. to reiterate, the Studio does sound distinctly better with those 360 tracks but again the software gets in the way. If i ask Alexa to play a specific song, it doen't seem like it chooses the high quality one. I've repeatedly had to go into the app disconnect the Studio and reconnect (even though i wasn't connected to it in the first place) to force it to restart the song and play the high quality version. Similarly, despite having the latest version of the Amazon Music and Alexa apps on both Android and iOS, they are both frustratingly slow and filled with bugs and glitches. Shockingly Spotify is constantly quicker to connect and start playing songs, as well as able to more consistently find all the Echo speakers and speaker groups I have, than the amazon app
