Simple, portable saw; Not the most powerful, but great for basic work.
I own a couple of the B&D 20v tools, so I decided to add this to my inventory. Overall, it's a good little saw. I used this for a couple small projects, including cutting a 1 1/2 thick worksurface in half to make a small 2 level workbench. The saw struggled if I pushed it to fast, but it cut through the material cleanly and quickly. I've also had to cut down a few 2x2 posts for newly planted trees, again - it got the job done. The portability of the saw makes it very versatile for completing these quick one-off tasks. The design of the saw (handles, weight, and operation) are very comfortable. It's not overly heavy but still feels solid. Battery life is what you'd expect for a high-draw application like this. I have not yet run the battery down while using it, keeping in mind that I'm using this saw for smaller, quick finish projects. I like the functionality that the saw provides with the ability to adjust the cut depth and angle, along with not having to work around a cord. This saw will not replace the traditional electric saw for heavy workloads, but it will definitely keep your projects moving forward. If you don't already have one, buy an extra battery or two. The standard 1.5AH battery drains pretty quickly.

Nice battery operated circular saw
This is a nice little battery operated circular saw that I would highly recommend. I bought this saw to use on an interior job in the house to cut pieces of wood without having to worry about plugging in a larger saw. It has a lot of power and uses the same batteries as all of my other BD tools.

Great Saw except for blade installation
The price is great the saw works well. It has good safety additions, two hand hold, instant blade stop when releasing the trigger etc. However changing the saw blade is aggravating, Installing the blade is difficult because it just doesn't just slide in you need to force it in a bit without being injured from the blades. There is a good short video on YouTube that shows someone installing the blade. The bolt has directions for tightening "stamp on it" which is in the opposite direction you normally tighten an loosen most nuts. Note this is the opposite direction in which the saw blade rotates. If the blade starts to stall the nut may not be tight enough. The supplied manual directions on removing and installing the blade are next to useless. Since the saw blade that comes with it has only 12 teeth it doesn't give a very smooth cut. I like others have change saw blade to a 36 tooth blade. The blade that ships with the saw has a 3/8 arbor and it has blade direction opposite of normal saw blade direction. The new blade I purchased has a 5/8 to 3/8 bushing adapter. You need to match the arrows of the blade in the same direction which is marked on the chain saw guard. You may need to turn over the blade which puts the label inside,or hidden because it will be the only way which will match the circular saw blade direction. The good news is this the best your going to find. More powerful and you will go through batteries quickly like the Rockwell. I have a 4amp battery that works great. Smaller ones will work also but not as well. This goes for most compact circular saws. I don't believe this is for the professional but Black and Decker is know for reliable tools that are used around the house. I am thankful I can get a saw so cheap. I have several.

I bought this for my son and it worked great. I needed a board cut down and it was great. We only used it once so far.

Great saw !
This thing is so handy for me wonder why I never bought one sooner. The only thing I have found is that is going to take a while for me to get used to having the saw blade on the left side instead of the right. I'm used to a 7 1/4 circular saw. My first project with it I was cutting 1" x 8" x 12' planks into 6 inch lengths. It cut perfectly. I also cut some 2" x 6" lumber and I found minor fault. Don't stop in the middle of the board and restart it. The saw would hum and I had to start the cut over. Then it worked perfect. I cut a lot of lumber over 2 days time with this saw but I charged the battery overnight. I can't say how well the battery holds up because of that. I did make a lot of cuts that day and never ran out of power. I cut overhead with it to cut out some bad floor rafters and it was very light to work with. I take into consideration this was a brand new blade on it and I did not hit any nails etc. A very good buy in my opinion.

Gem of a battery powered saw!
OK, disclaimer -- this is the first circular saw I've owned -- but it far exceeded my expectations, both in performance and quality! I've borrowed and used other saws, so not a complete neophyte. This saw is light, maneuverable, and makes accurate, clean cuts. The standard blades has held up well cutting a variety of treated lumber (2x4, 2x6, 2x8, 4x4, 1x5, and more) over the course of building a 10x14' deck, resurfacing a 3x20' walkway, and building a 6' bench. The adjustable depth and angled bevel features came in handy multiple times. And the best surprise was the battery life -- a 2 AH battery lasted all day for me! Recharge it overnight and it's ready to go the next morning. I initially bought this B&D circular saw because I had a weed eater of the same brand that used the same 20V battery, but given my experience, I'd buy it on its own merits! I now own a B&D cordless drill as well as this saw and the previously mentioned weed whacker and have been more than pleased with the performance of all three! I'm not a professional and don't use these tools on an everyday basis, but if you're a weekend projects person, I highly recommend the B&D 20V line of tools. From my research, these are about half the price of Makita, Dewalt, Craftsman, Ryobi, and the like.

OK for DIY projects
This a decent cordless saw for DIY home projects. It will cut a 2 x 4/6 but you have to let the blade do the work. If you need a saw that takes on heavier wood then this is not it. There are a couple reasons that I bought this. First, I had one that no longer works after 4 years (I got my money's worth). Second, I did not want to buy a different brand name that doesn't use the same batteries that I already have and powers my other B&D cordless tools (batteries are not cheap). I also have an assortment of 5 1/2 blades. Buyers beware. It does not come with a battery or a blade. Buying those separately will cost you $45-50. Considering that, there are some Skil and Riobi saws on Amazon that cost a bit more, but you will not have to buy additional parts.

A GREAT first circular saw
I am an IT guy. I tear apart technical things, electronics, build computers, cars, and other things. Up to this point in life, there were other people and other circular saws doing the circular sawing that needed sawed. But then there weren't. No other circular saws and no other people. This is the first one I bought myself, and I have to say I am completely satisfied with it as a first-saw first-time sawer with a circular saw. It's easy to use, the battery lasts for what I need, and learning the mechanics of adjusting and aligning and sawing were easy enough to figure out. I did have to Youtube some videos but it was all I needed to get going. Fully satisfied and would continue on with this equipment brand and system.

Buen producto
