A must-have for dog owners who live in an apartment
My apartment is on the third floor, very far away from grass, so this has been incredibly useful for potty training my dog. It's easy to clean and dries pretty fast. My dog is incredibly smart, but given that the grass is far, she would go potty outside within the complex after we left the apartment, and it's not allowed to pee inside the complex. I use this with a urine detox spray, and it works. I do also add carbon pads under the grass and just replace them twice a day. I got the Large size for my Aussie, who is medium-sized, and it works great. It's the ideal size for her, as a square-sized one is too small, and she would pee outside of it. I'd say that it's lightweight, so it makes it easy to wash and carry. I think this is pretty easy to take with you if you are traveling and have a car or a case for it to pack it in. My dog is so picky about where she does potty, so if it smells too much, she won't go potty on it or go outside, but we haven't had problems with it. I make sure to reward her and congratulate her for using the grass. I would like to note that despite being lightweight, the grass is quite durable and doesn't fall off easily. So bits of grass fell off when I first got it, but I've washed this thing often and barely any grass falls out.

Buy it
Perfect size for our puppy and will grow with it . Puppy refuse to pee or poop in the first week . We place a little outdoor sand and grass on the bottom of the mat to give the smell of a real grass . Use some of the pee and place it on the bottom of the mat as well . It worked ! We leave the door open to her cage while on leash and mat outside the kennel. She sleeps in the kennel and has consistently pee and poop on the mat now . For the first year , I will continue to set this up to built consistency. Grass is durable and everything else that comes with it is of quality material. Easy clean . Just rinse with running water and let it air out in the sun. Does not flex when you pick up the whole thing as u move it around . I will buy a small rubber liner to prevent the whole thing from sliding around on my hard wood floor .

Works but other purchases needed to improve your use
Their pad is not enough to cover the tray so pee will collect on the tray and through their pad creating an awful smell and much more work to clean than it does with a few additional purchases. Search on Amazon for pee pads and a number of sellers sell them exactly half the true interior size of the tray. Also buy kitty litter. I used world’s best kitty litter since it is organic and safe if your dog happens to try and eat it. Layer the kitty litter on the bottom of the tray. Then I bought 8 half sized pee pads and one additional fill per pad that the same manufacturer for the tray sells separately. Lay 4 half pee pads over the kitty litter creating 2 full layers of protection. Then lay one full aozed pee pad that comes with this tray and grass product. This works best as a first layer of absorbency with the 2 additional layers underneath to catch the edge pees that the full pad isn’t quite large enough to reach. The kitty litter catches anything else (which should be a rare event) and helps with odor. This improved process limits as much per sticking and smelling through the grass and allows more time between washing the grass and should completely prevent the need to ever wash the tray. Washing the tray is the hardest and the grass second with the pee pass the easiest since they can go right in the washing machine. The pads and the grass will still smell awful. We have 2 small dachshunds and this process allows us to go about 4 days in the summer and 7days in the winter (heat makes it smell faster). Otherwise it would be every couple days and you would need to also wash the tray using it as it comes without any addons. It is important to buy a complete second set including the grass because it takes a few hours for the pads to wash and dry so we will take them all (dust off the few pieces of kitty litter over the balcony so they don’t get into your washing machine). Scoop and top off the kitty litter if it has any pre in it. Use the second set of pee pads and grass so your pet can still go to the bathroom when you are cleaning the used set. Then take the used pads straight to the washing machine and wash them on sanitize or high heat with detergent AND BLEACH. Then we wash the grass in the shower with a hand shower and a spray bottle with 1 part bleach and 5 parts water rinsing throughly with hot water spray. Roll and let dry in the corner of the shower and use that as an opportunity to clean the shower floor with more bleach spray. We keep the second set of pads and grass behind one of our couches or wherever convenient for you. I’d like us you have a windy balcony, to keep the grass from blowing over, but some green plastic chip clips also on Amazon which work great to hold all of the pads and grass together (get 4 of them). Hope that helps!

Not a permanent solution!
Not terrible but not great either, I would not suggest this for a permanent solution and I will be thankful that my puppy will be able to go outside to potty in the near future and we can retire this grass patch. *Negatives* 1. The grass likes to shed from the turf pad so if you have a puppy you need to keep an eye on them around it, it can easily be ingested and cause a blockage. Honestly I wouldn't suggest leaving any dog unattended around this product ever. 2. The washable pad doesn't exactly fit the pan either, so sometimes there can be run-off of urine that gets under the waterproof backing of the pad especially if your dog is learning to aim so expect to wipe urine from the bottom of the tray occasionally. 3. The turf is very hard to clean without taking it outside to wash it with a hose, and tends to hold the smell of urine if not rinsed out regularly. The pad does not dry quickly on its own and any poop that is less than firm will cling to the turf and is impossible to clean away unless you actually go hose it down. 3. If you have a dog that urinates frequently the pad will fill up quickly and need to be washed, even my 12 week old puppy can easily dirty the pad in less than a few hours, and you willing definitely notice if it needs changed out because you have to mop up urine paw prints from the floor because the tray lacks drainage. *Positive* 1. The pad washable pad has held up to more than several hand washes and cycles in the washer and dryer with only a bit of deformation. 2. My puppy learned to use the pad fairly quickly and uses it on her own without needing assistance. 3. The plastic tray is very easy to clean and does not hold an odor when cleaned properly. Get two pads, you will thank yourself later especially if using inside. Only having one and having to wash it constantly can be very frustrating when your dog needs to go now. I would not suggest this for bigger dogs unless you plan to be using it for temporary purposes.

Great for my patio!
I put this on my upstairs patio so the dogs could go potty at night without having to go outside where coyotes often are close by. At first my dogs didn't know what to make of this, but once one used it the others followed. Its nice because the pad is washable. I hose out the pan, the pad, and the "grass" twice a week and let them dry out in the sun. Going to buy another one soon so they have more areas to pee on.

Don’t buy
The pad and grass come off very easily so it doesn’t stay in place

Works perfectly!
Absolutely perfect for our small dog. Trained our dog in a week to use it and does not smell.

Very absorbent!!
Moved from my moms house into an apartment with a patio so I trained my 52lbs GSD to go potty on this mat in case of emergencies (like her having to go potty at 3am). If anything, the chihuahuas my mom has that are only trained on the regular potty mats used this a lot more and took no time adjusting to it. They preferred using this mat tbh. My dog took a while to get the concept as she’s trained to just go on the grass in the backyard. She got it eventually and uses it when needed. It SUPER absorbent!! My dog had a hard time adjusting to peeing at the apartment complex and would hold her pee all day only to finally pee on this mat as a last resort. She drinks water like a fish so after a good week of her peeing, the pad held up great! Thankfully she finally adjusted to peeing on the grass at the complex because the smell was awful which meant I would’ve had to clean it often! Cleaning it with a hose at my moms was so easy! I just hosed off each part til the water ran clear. I added a little detergent to the pad just to keep the pee smell out. Cleaning it at the apartment?? Absolutely disgusting having to clean it off in the tub. It’s machine washable but I don’t wanna risk ruining my apartment machine. I’d definitely recommend cleaning it more frequently if you don’t have access to a hose to avoid that mess. So much pee came out I would’ve never guessed it could hold that much! The size of the patch is perfect for small dogs but BARELY does the trick for mine. She had a hard time pooping cuz the mat was a little small but she peed on it just fine. She’s considered a “big” dog but she’s definitely on the smaller side of that spectrum. I would recommend sizing up if you have a bigger dog than my Luna. All in all, definitely worth the price and would recommend so long as you don’t mind the cleaning process!
