Q: I see conflicting depictions in the images. Does the skin stick out past the face of the camera where the lens is so it's protected from falls?

Unfortunately, it does not stick out past the face of the camera as a guard, it stops right before and tends to slide back revealing the white of the Eufy Camera. Not a deal breaker but noticable if you are looking for it. This will certainly not protect the camera from falls that are a result of falling forward or near the face. On the contrary, I will say because the magnet is the majority of the weight for the camera, depending on the height, tends to fall with the back facing forward which is protected. Essentially this covers up the white portion of the camera apart from the speaker on the bottom and the space for both the charging port and magnetic slot on the back.
