This device does not seem to indicate the real voltage on the electric fence. It is almost impossible to see the neon lamps in the daylight.

Difficult to see lights during daylight hours and earthing wire too short for my application.

Cardboard paper towel core is necessary to see lights during daylight. This device listed my fence at only 2000volts, whether I tested at the far end of the fence or at the energizer when disconnected from the fence. A friend's more expensive/accurate tester said fence was actually putting out 5000volts.

Upon receiving this item, I tested it on my working 10,000 volt electric fence. Nothing lit up even when testing directly to the controller box. I know the fence works because I accidentally shocked myself a few days prior to ordering the 'tester'. I sent it back for a replacement. If I remember, I'll post how it works next week when I receive it.I received the replacement tester. It also did NOT work. Returning for refund. DO NOT BUY!!
