Guide is okay - nice quality with brief information. I haven't found it as easy to follow or as informative as other guidebooks, but it's a good overview.

Gives consise, accurate and current information on major areas of travel in Japan. The recommendations for activities, lodging and eating are very helpful.

This guide has excellent information. It’s useless because you won’t be able to find it. Want to visit the Imperial Palace? It’s not in the index. Want to go to Shinjuku? It’s not in the index. To find this, you’ll have to somehow run across it somewhere. If you do manage to find it, the info you get is great.What were they thinking?

I always love Michillen guides. They are so good about indicating what you must see. They are right on

STILL BY FAR THE BEST TRAVEL GUIDE AVAILABLE - CLEAR, CONCISE, EASY TO FOLLOW

All expectations met and more, very complete, excellent compilation

As with all the Green Guides series the book provides a companion to help you plan your holiday but also to direct you in your visit with a reference to the relevance of the various sites.

Michelin travel guides are amongst or possibly the best travel guides available. They are not just about places to see but also insight into the culture, society and history of places; I find marvellous the section 'Introduction to Japan' that has been written by people who know the country; it gives the guide a human dimension lost in others and helps to better appreciate and respect the places we visit. Across the guide there are countless insets where all sorts of curiosities and in'-depth analysis is provided.It is the first time I use an English translation of these guides and my only remark is that it needs some improvement: there are quite a few typos and minor mistakes which seem to be related to some carelessness and oversights; there are mistakes in talking of places that are Regions as Islands which incorrect i.e. the main regions of Chubu and Chugoku are indicated as Islands when in fact they are administrative units of the main Island of Honshu: see pages 11 and 13 on National Parks.

とても日本の事が分かる本です。外国人観光客から見た日本、必見です。

錆付きつつある英語の読解力を維持するためもあり購入しました。ミシュランガイドは、それぞれの観光施設について簡潔な説明と開館時間、閉館日、入場料金も明示されており、英語であることさえ気にならないのであれば、日本の国内観光をするにあたっても有効だと思います。ただ、本来ミシュランガイドはタイヤメーカーの作るガイドブックであり、欧米の観光地のものであれば、クルマで行くにはどうしたらよいか、駐車はどうするかといった情報が充実しているのですが、このJAPAN版はクルマでの移動についての情報はほとんどありません。また、ミシュラン自慢のレーティングシステムですが、どうしてあそこが★★★で、ここが★だけなんだろうと、地元観光地を知る自分からすると納得できない記述もあります。今度、広島・呉に2泊3日で旅行を計画していますが、このGuideから得られた情報＋ネットの情報で、旅行計画が立てられました。

函館（本書では482ページから）に行ったときに、ミシュランで紹介されてているという表示をたくさん目にしました。そういえば、何度も日本に来ている知り合いのドイツ人も高尾山（本書では167ページ）に行ったと言っていたので、ちょっとに気なっていたのが、ミシュランガイドです。また、外国の人が、どのようなものに興味を持っているのかの一つの例としても面白いです。日本についての紹介ページは充実していると思います。ただ日本全国を1冊で紹介するのは無理かなぁと思います。地図は、何か別のものを持っているという前提でしょう。ミシュランは、温泉ガイドを別冊で作ると良いのでは。
