The clip part is attached with an S-Hook, so while it's not a true swivel, you do have some play in it. But if you are looking for a real swivel, these are not the product for you. I am very pleased with the product, as it works well to hook up the cabana around the umbrella. They are very sturdy and hold quite a bit of weight.

Q: Will this work with a curtain rod?

They could work on a curtain rod but the clips are only 1/2 inch in diameter so it'd have to be a very thin rod. They would work on a wire better than a rod.

Q: How much weight can these clips hold?

They are very sturdy! I bought them to hang a cabana panel onto an umbrella instead of tying it on each time. They clip on and hold!!! The cloth panel is the clips are holding up is about 5-1/2' tall and the diameter is the width of a beach umbrella. I think they are very sturdy.
