1. The cast aluminum base means it's lighter for the same sturdy stiffness. Lots of these rolling stools have bases made of chromed steel tubing, and the ones I've encountered tend to creak and flex a little as they get old. I'm sure there are steel tube stools as sturdy and still as this one, but they'd have to be a lot heavier. The aluminum gives it a classic look. 2. The larger wheeled roller-blade style rollers are the other advantage here. Compared to the small wheeled black plastic rollers you see on other stools, these roll and swivel silently, change directions smoothly and easily with no scraping as they reverse. Perfect for any lab, or service office, or shop, where you'll need roll the stool around to keep up with you as you work. This stool takes no effort to move about. 3. The gas-charged column works smoothly and quickly to adjust seat height. The chromed column is a color match to the polished aluminum base and fits into the base so that it looks seamless, but that's just how precision fit it is. That surprised me since machining is expensive and for it to slot into the base with perfect fit and then stay in place securely without a holding fastener all suggest a quality level that is good value for the price. 4. Same with the padded top. Some reviews complain it's too small but it seems right for a work stool--very comfortable for me (six feet tall) to sit and work. Also comfortable was the density of the padding which seemed perfect. I'd seen reviews complaining about the padding being too hard and too soft, but I found it perfect for a comfortable work stool. 5. Installation took one or two minutes--a) place each roller post into one of the five base feet. b) Remove red cap from the gas-charged cylinder and drop the column into the precision machined hole in the base. c) Drop the fully assembled stool seat onto the gas-charged column. 6. All this fits so well that you can pick up the stool by its top to move it or carry it.

I bought it for my wife after her Yoga ball burst. She was using it for piano lessons and it worked well until it burst and she hit her head on the floor. The wheels are great but the seat is a little bit little. I like it to set for a couple of minutes but after that it's hard on the rump.

It's a nice stool, but a bit more padding would be great. The wheels are cheap, such the that threads on the exposed ends of the axle bolts are sharp and do cut my ankles. It works great though. And it is narrow enough for my small space.

What makes this stool different from all the others are the wheels. They are NOT those cheap plastic ones with single or double thin rims that cut into your carpets or leave ruts in your wooden or vinyl floor. These have five beautiful hard rubber - - like the kind on your rollerblades or other indoor roller skates—they won’t damage your floors and glide smoothly in any direction. The best ever!

So far they seem like decent stools that appear to be holding up well to our abusive crew. They were easy to assemble and have good wheels that roll across most surface conditions short of off roading. Handle our bigger crew just fine without showing signs of stress and aren't flimsy feeling. Seat is padded well enough but isn't ridiculously thick.

I would rate it higher except for a couple of things. The packing leaves a bit to be desired as the the seat can shift and the handle to raise and lower it can be impacted and, in my case, snap in half. Not a huge deal as the other half is still plenty to grab on to but, it would still be nice if it didn't break. That brings me to the next issue which is the seat itself. The off gassing from the vinyl is intense on this one so if you are sensitive to that sort of odor stay away as it has been two weeks and is still stinking up my house! Third issue is kind of a me problem as i am a large guy but the gas cylinder doesn't seem to be as high pressure as some other similar chairs I've used so it compresses a bit more than i like. That being said, if you're a reasonable weight it should be fine. Otherwise, the wheels are nice and the frame is lightweight yet quite solid.

Nice and good quality

Seemed like a decent stool at first. Little higher than I’d like, and I’m 6’3 so can imagine this wouldn’t be great for shorter folks. But started out as a good chair. Also the wheels don’t twist around as freely as other similarly priced or cheaper options. Unbelievably, after minimal use for a short time, one of the wheels completely fell off. This happened WHILE I WAS TATTOOING A CLIENT! Absolutely furious. Don’t waste your money on this POS.
